  • Responsibilities

    The Director of Human Resources is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the HR Department. Assists the President in the development of programs that support our Client's strategic goals and objectives and vision to be the Preferred Employer. The HR Director is responsible for the effective performance of various human resource functions including recruitment, performance management, compensation, benefits administration, employee relations, workers compensation, implementation and administration of HR programs and employment policies, record keeping, training and workforce development and compliance with HR laws and regulations. The HR Director serves as a resource to others by providing professional HR advice on the application of employment policies in the context of hiring, discipline, employment termination, training, compensation, benefits, leaves, equal opportunity and other HR matters. The HR Director directly supervises the HR team.

    Essential Functions

    • Responsible for driving all HR activities within the Retail business segment (all retail stores across entire footprint)

    • Partner with senior leadership to develop/implement/drive all HR policies, programs and initiatives to foster an engaged workforce

    • Responsible for managing employee relations/retention activities, leading large scale change management initiatives, and working to develop programs to engage and develop talent

    • Inspire and effectively lead a team of Retail HR Business Partners and partner closely with HR Center Of Excellences to drive key initiatives and projects in areas such as compensation, benefits, diversity, and overall talent management.

    • Annually reviews and makes recommendations to executive management for improvement of the company’s policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters.

    • Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures company’s compliance in a multi-state environment.

    • Maintains responsibility for company compliance with federal and state legislation pertaining to all personnel matters in a multi-state environment.

    • Communicates changes in company personnel policies and procedures and ensures proper compliance is followed.

    • Assists executive management in the annual review, preparation and administration of company wage and salary program.

    • Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the President, on personnel matters.

    • Works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters.

    • Recommends, evaluates and participates in staff development for the company.

    • Supervises the staff of the human resource department.

    • Participates on committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities.

    • Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.

    • Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with staff and external partners.

    • Expert level written and verbal communication skills.

    • Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability

    Required Education And Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years related experience or training.

    • Human Resources Certification PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM SCP

    • Experience in overseeing, negotiating and implementing health, welfare and benefit programs

    • 3 years experience in multi-location (5 locations) HR Management in an organization

    • Managed an organization with no less than 500 employees.

    • Must have demonstrated proficiency with applicable laws/regulations multi-state

    • Management theories

    • Policy/procedure development

    • Strong organizational skills in the areas of operations, budget and project administration; effective interface with diverse groups and effective supervisory skills.
