JOB DESCRIPTION:
Our Client is hiring an experienced, diligent and Knowledgeable Research Chemist. This role is ideally suited for an individual with quality control experience in controlled substance manufacturing. A superior candidate will be enthusiastic about joining a close-knit, fast-growing team operating in a highly regulated space.
DUTIES:
Oversee production by creating and reviewing production schedule; study and clarify specifications; calculate requirements; assemble and weigh plant materials and supplies
QA/QC duties that require analytical testing for quality and consistency; data review
Operate highly sophisticated equipment; process concentrates and extracts
Clean and maintain extraction equipment and laboratory facility following current good manufacturing practices (cGMP), and standard operating procedures; comply with legal regulations; monitor environment
Operate, maintain, and make adjustments and repairs to laboratory equipment such as liquid chromatography systems, pumps, microscopes, balances, centrifuges, and other laboratory equipment
Store supplies and equipment, dispose of waste according to guidelines, and keep laboratory, storerooms and working areas immaculate
Wash and sterilize laboratory glassware
Create SOPs, training records, and related documentation
Maintain material safety data sheets for all department chemicals and products
Report to President on a weekly basis with updates regarding production and processing
Schedule Interact daily with the Chief Science Officer.
Demonstrate knowledge of 21 CFR 210 and 211, ICH Q10 and ISO 14644
Maintain expertly organized, easily audit-able files.
Support different cross-functional teams.
Implement production controls by using standardized batch records.
Review and approve new and revised batch records.
Follow strict procedures and manufacturing protocols.
Perform Batch Record Review and authorize release of finished products.
Confront quality control issues with manufacturing supervisor and other management personnel.
Contribute to new equipment selection and protocol refinement.
Assist with audit preparation and audits.
Perform other duties as required.
Ensure company Quality Control documents follow good documentation practices standards.
COMPLIANCE:
Ensure processing and testing operations are fully compliant with state regulations and federal and state law
Assure that operation adheres to all business and industry license requirements
Maintain strict inventory records of all materials, chemicals and equipment used in the laboratory and documents production by completing forms, reports, logs and records
REQUIREMENTS:
BS/BA Degree or greater in Biochemistry, Chemistry
MS or Ph.D. in chemistry, bioorganic chemistry, natural products chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or analytical chemistry, or comparable chemistry field preferred
At least 4 years’ experience in a lab setting
Strong analytical chemistry background with understanding of various analytical techniques, especially chromatography with HPLC and GC analysis required
Extensive experience with HPLC, GC, GC/MS and/or LC/MS/MS instrumentation, and Triple Quad LCMS highly preferred
Scientific writing for processes, training, and procedures that require documentation
Must be at least 21 years of age
Ability to pass a comprehensive local, state, and federal background check
Expertise in subcritical and supercritical CO2 extraction methods as well as the purification, separation and isolation of various compounds of cannabis is preferred
Hands on laboratory experience with decarboxylation, winterization and short path distillation/fractional distillation is preferred
SKILLS:
Able to perform metabolic analysis using HPLC and GC instrumentation
Able to process samples by collection, extraction, preparing for analysis, and quantifying results
Familiar use of a wide range of pipettes and knowing their volume capabilities
Scientific laboratory procedures and techniques as used in a chemistry laboratory
Scientific laboratory equipment and apparatus
Scientific methods of measurements
Health and safety practices and precautions applicable to a chemistry laboratory
Proper and safe handling and disposal of harmful chemicals, substances, and hazardous wastes
Capabilities with computer systems, software, and hardware common to laboratories
Record keeping procedures
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to perform repetitive techniques accurately and consistently
Must be able to stand for long periods of time, along with frequent bending
Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)
Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, work with fingers
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push up to 100 pounds with assistance
