    Summary:

    Reporting to the ­­­Chief Operating Officer the Manager of Extraction is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operations of the high-tech extraction lab facility. The Manager of Extraction will be responsible for a team of Technicians, QA/QC and Packaging staff whose mandate is to produce cannabis extracts using hydrocarbon extraction and subsequent refinement procedures. He or she will be responsible for ensuring all extracted products are produced safely, efficiently, and consistently.

    Responsibilities:

    The following is a list of essential functions that the Manager of Extraction is responsible

    for:

    • Overseeing all cannabis hydrocarbon extraction and refinement operations.
    • Overseeing the packaging of all products produced in the extraction lab.
    • Managing the daily operations of the extraction and post extraction lab, QC/QA lab, and packaging process, monitoring the performance of quality, testing, shelf life testing, scale-up procedures and production troubleshooting.
    • Assist with the equipment sourcing, laboratory design, laboratory setup, standard operating procedure development, regulatory compliance, hiring, training, and personnel management.
    • Maximize efficiency in processing while maintaining the highest level of quality in extraction products.
    • Adjust layout of working areas, processes, and equipment to maximize operational efficiency, integrate new equipment, and/or increase capacity.
    • Coordinate with Executive and Senior leadership to achieve production goals.
    • Coordinate with the team in planning and fulfilling the manufacturing schedule.
    • Communicate with the COO about incoming product, and work orders
    • Ensure adequate inventory for all product types.
    • Examine incoming product for quality and potential contamination to direct proper preparation for extraction.
    • Track manufacturing metrics throughout the extraction process.
    • Collect and interpret data to monitor and adjust daily operations for maximum output and quality.
    • Track post-processing temperatures and times to manipulate product as required.
    • Track consumables usage and maintain the inventory.
    • Prepare samples for testing and interpretation of test results to modify purging and extracting techniques in order to optimize product quality.
    • Communicate with testing laboratories.
    • Ensure product-type consistency and uniformity to prevent outliers.
    • Understand testing calibration
    • Direct daily, weekly and monthly routine equipment cleaning and maintenance
    • Direct equipment repairs and valve or pump rebuilds as needed
    • Operating, maintaining, and making adjustments and repairs to laboratory equipment such as hydrocarbon extractors, high pressure solvent extractors, falling film evaporators, vacuum ovens, rotary evaporators, distillation and other laboratory equipment
    • Must be accessible 7 days a week either on-site or by phone to address any laboratory issues.

     

    Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities requirements:

    • Ethical conduct at all times and interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent leadership and management skills, including 2 years of proven

      effective managerial experience

    • At least a four-year degree from an accredited institution in a technical field,

      i.e. physics, chemistry, biology, or engineering.

    • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry or related

      field.

    • At least two years of experience with Supercritical Fluid Extraction and Rotary

      Evaporation in a Lab that adheres to strict health and safety policies and

      procedures, preferably a regulated field producing cannabis-infused,

      pharmaceutical or nutraceutical products

    • Experience with Extraction Purification and Analysis
    • Fully competent in operating volatile extraction equipment, ability to create

      products and extracts, including live resin

    • Familiarity with cannabis extraction concepts, products, practices, and procedures.
    • Extensive experience and good judgment to properly plan and accomplish
