    We are seeking a CULTIVATION MANAGER to join our team. The Cultivation Manager will be responsible for managing all tasks in the cannabis cultivation process which includes the development of strains and seeds, cloning, transplanting, plant maintenance and feeding, pest management, trimming, drying, curing, destruction, and material/product inventory management. The ideal candidate is highly experienced in hydroponic growing techniques of different cannabis strains within a large-scale GMP regulated facility. A strong expertise in mold and pest prevention without the use of pesticides is preferred. Please note that this is a full-time position based out of our Mississauga facility. The Cultivation Manager must have flexible availability to meet production needs (including evenings and weekends), and be on-call in the event of an emergency.

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

    • Manage plant schedules and organization for crops to project all cultivation requirements on a timely basis, in order to meet demand in cost effective manner.

    • Manage a production team of Cultivation Technicians and guide them to achieve production targets within set timelines, ensuring adherence to SOPs and GMP requirements.

    • Possess knowledge of growing methods, including in-depth knowledge of pH, ppm and EC counts.

    • Develop and execute irrigation, nutrient supply plans to ensure optimum plant growth and maximize finished product output.

    • Possess a thorough understanding of cannabis starting materials, processing techniques and product security measures.

    • Catalog and analyze each individual strain from clone to flower to harvest with individual level maintenance of cannabis plants. Clone and manage vegetative stage with at least a 90% success rate.

    • Execute a pest and pathogen management program in view of elimination/control of all types of mold, powdery mildew, spider mites, fungus gnats etc.

    • Have a working knowledge of environmental control systems, soilless substrates, various growing and flower development techniques, and deep understanding of environmental manipulations inside the production areas.

    • Recognize potential problems and execute corrective measures in a timely manner.

    • Liaise with Quality Assurance regarding any QA needs or Health Canada requirements.

    • Along with the Site Manager, ensure that all security measures are maintained.

    • Assist Health Canada auditors with inventory, sales and compliance audits.

    • PIC clearance.

    • Other responsibilities as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

    • Production horticulture Diploma or a Bachelor’s Degree in Science (biology, agriculture, horticulture).

    • Minimum 3 years of Cannabis growing experience required; within a highly regulated GMP facility preferred.

    • Expert knowledge in ACMPR rules, regulations.

    • Possess a comprehensive knowledge of genetics and plan strains (Sativa, Indica and hybrids), and knowledge of therapeutic effects of strains and types of medicinal administration.

    • Experience and technical knowledge in environmental control software programming and monitoring to control product moisture levels during production, curing and packaging stages medical cannabis products.

    • Experience with industrialized indoor grow systems.

    • Excellent management skills with the ability to lead a team of multiple Cultivation Technicians to ensure that tight deadlines are met and schedules are on-time.

    • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and handle multiple demands.

    • Computer proficient.

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

    • Possess a valid Driver’s License.
