    Develop Your Future with Nielsen

    The Engineering track develops future Nielsen leaders who can provide clients with the innovative data management and technology solutions they need to make critical decisions. Interns take on roles of increasing responsibility as they participate in exciting development experiences.

    Examples in Engineering include:

    • Back-end Engineer - Work with our Engineering teams to develop additional features and enhancements to one of our systems using languages such as Java, Javascript, Python, etc and technologies like Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, etc
    • Working with innovative technologies - Work with Machine Learning technologies to automate Nielsen processes or perform predictive analysis on Nielsen data
    • Simple Solutions – Improve operational efficiency (i.e. DevOps) and/or accuracy of a specific measurement system that incorporates complex software, hardware, or both.

    A day in the life of an Intern may include: conducting project status updates with team members and key stakeholders; facilitating their team in solving software development problems; attending Lunch & Learn training programs; working on project deliverables; and meeting with project stakeholders.

    An Emerging Leaders Internship is definitely NOT just a summer job! You get to experience firsthand what it is like to work in the Nielsen environment. You’ll be exposed to our full-time Emerging Leaders Program by meeting and working with program Associates. You’ll work on projects involving significant business needs such as simplification, integration, business process improvement or project management. Sample assignments include:

    • Deepen Technical Skills - Learn new programming technologies to apply cutting-edge solutions to Nielsen’s measurement systems.
    • Challenging the status quo - Rapidly prototype software solutions to new and existing Nielsen problems to streamline technical and operational efficiency.
    • Develop a Business Case - Evaluate new business intelligence software to develop a recommendation on upgrading.
    • Simplify Solutions - Improve accuracy and/or operational efficiency of a specific software system through DevOps

    Candidate Opportunities:

    For the Summer of 2019, we are offering qualified Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 graduates the following:

    Selection Criteria:

    • Strong academic record (minimum overall GPA of 3.0)
    • Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program in: Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering (must have experience in Software), Computer Science
    • Fewer than two years’ full-time work experience
    • Leadership experience (classroom, campus, summer jobs)
    • Passion and desire for leadership opportunities and development
    • Permanent work authorization in the United States required
    • Ability to work in the Tampa Bay Area, FL
    • Coursework in financials, statistics or programming languages
    • Initiative, creativity and passion to deliver results to our clients
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Strong communication skills
    • Effective decision-making and problem-solving abilities
