    Develop Your Future with Nielsen The Operations track develops future Nielsen leaders who can provide clients with the innovative data management and technology solutions they need to make critical decisions. Interns take on roles of increasing responsibility as they participate in exciting development experiences.

    Examples in Operations include:

    • Learn Process Improvement Methodologies – Utilize process improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma and Lean to reduce cycle time and defects.
    • Understand Metrics That Drive Business Value – Establish key metrics to be used in determining acceptable performance levels of a business process.
    • Deepen Analytical Skills – Analyze performance and delivery data for global department to identify root causes and develop improvement focused action plans.
    • Challenging the Status Quo – Identification of process issues impacting data quality and Nielsen employee efficiency and implementation of solutions to correct these issues.

    A day in the life of an Intern may include: conducting project status updates with team members and key stakeholders; attending Lunch & Learn training programs; working on project deliverables; and meeting with project stakeholders.

    Internships: Building towards YOUR future An Emerging Leaders Internship is definitely NOT just a summer job! You get to experience firsthand what it is like to work in the Nielsen environment. You’ll be exposed to our full-time Emerging Leaders Program by meeting and working with program Associates. You’ll work on projects involving significant business needs such as simplification, integration, business process improvement or project management. Sample assignments include:

    • Challenging the status quo - Identification of process issues impacting data quality & Nielsen employee efficiency and then implementation of solutions to correct these issues.
    • Develop a Business Case - Evaluate new business intelligence software to develop a recommendation on upgrading.
    • Simple Solutions - Improve operational efficiency and/or accuracy of a specific measurement system that incorporates complex software, hardware, or both.
    • Deepen Analytical Skills - Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses on data to help “tell a story” or determine the answer to a client concern

    Candidate Opportunities: For the Summer of 2019, we are offering qualified Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 graduates the following:

    • Intern assignments in Chicago, IL or Tampa, FL
    • June through mid-August internships
    • Competitive hourly salary
    • Generous sign-on bonus to defray housing and temporary relocation cost

    Selection Criteria:

    • Strong academic record (minimum overall GPA of 3.0)
    • Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program in: Information Science & Technology Electrical Engineering Supply Chain and Operations Management Business Information Technology Mechanical Engineering BBA Operations & Technology Management Industrial Management with a concentration in Operations Industrial/Systems Engineering
    • Fewer than two years’ full-time work experience
    • Leadership experience (classroom, campus, summer jobs)
    • Permanent work authorization in the United States required
    • Ability to work in Tampa, FL or Chicago, IL
    • Coursework in financials, statistics or programming languages
    • Initiative, creativity and passion to deliver results to our clients
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Strong communication skills
    • Effective decision-making and problem-solving abilities
