The Systems Engineering Intern is responsible for applying systems engineering practices to support NPD, sustaining and productivity designs development projects with limited complexity. This role will be heavily involved in testing and troubleshooting product system designs in support of new product development projects. You will have the opportunity to learn how to create SFMEA, DFMEAs and 8Ds using Chamberlain’s quality tools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Requirement re-use has been poor within Chamberlain leading to inconsistencies and unnecessary work during the New Product Development (NPD) cycle.
This role has the technical ability to support existing technology, both internal and with partners, to support building complexity products
Review the Chamberlain NPD process with specific focus on Requirements harvesting and management.
Work with the team to identify new and reused requirements and provide direction for team and supplier.
Support generating documentation for system architecture in new product development platforms.
Participate in failure analysis and problem solving tactics by using six sigma design practices (six sigma is not required for this role)
Participate in analyze network data to evaluate connectivity
Participate in test and troubleshoot complex systems that incorporate complex and simple products in a connected environment
Participate in building prototypes incorporating existing and COTS components while using basic project management skills
Participate in sample and prototype assembly of engineered products
Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Currently enrolled in a Systems Engineering program (or similar) at an accredited University in good standing
Must have completed freshman year at an accredited college or university
Must be committed to the duration of the internship program, generally 12 - 14 weeks
Must possess an unrestricted right to work in the United States
Must be local during Summer season as you will be required to work in the Oak Brook office
GPA minimum: 3.5 on a 4.0 point scale
