    The INFOPS Application Development team is responsible for the delivery and support of platforms used by our custom application development organization. These highly available platforms are used by our WWT internal users and external customers around the globe. The applicant will work in a fast-paced / highly collaborative environment, both within the team and across the organization. The team strongly emphasizes DevOps methodologies and partners with our stakeholders to deliver secure, reliable, and highly performant platforms that are easily consumable.

    We are in search of an Associate Developer to join a talented group of software and platform engineers who will share in our passion for technology and excitement for taking on new challenges and implementing enterprise-grade solutions. The Associate Developer will work closely with other developers and platform engineers to learn and contribute to the build-out and integration of custom WWT applications and third-party vendor systems and products. This employee will leverage the expertise and experience from other developers to participate in driving complex projects and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software products. This could involve participating and contributing to design, writing code, testing, debugging applications, and documenting.

    The employee is open-minded to varying opinions and able to work collaboratively to reach decisions that are best for our customers, business, and team. The candidate is eager to learn and cross-train relevant skillsets, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to stretch the meaning of “full-stack developer” to the platforms that run and support custom-developed applications.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Software Design & Development
    • Assist in designing, coding, and testing software applications.
    • Develop and maintain in-house applications deployed into Red Hat OpenShift, databases, and business-critical services to meet changing platform requirements and improve efficiency.
    • Build and maintain libraries to ease service consumption.
    • Write and maintain code across automation platforms to support consistency and self-service capabilities.
    • Testing & Quality Assurance
    • Create and execute test cases for components/features, covering functionality and edge cases.
    • Execute unit and integration tests using various testing frameworks and tools.
    • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
    • Learn business processes to support functional and regression testing.
    • Platform Engineering
    • Manage Red Hat OpenShift clusters to ensure high availability and scalability of applications.
    • Monitor and troubleshoot Kubernetes environments, identifying and resolving issues to maintain optimal performance.
    • Implement and manage container orchestration using gitops, ensuring seamless integration and deployment of applications.
    • Collaborate with development teams to design and implement CI/CD pipelines, leveraging Codefresh and gitops for automated deployments.
    • Manage platforms WWT custom applications integrate with; Apache Solr, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, and other services to applications deployed into Red Hat OpenShift.
    • Technical Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting
    • Use debugging tools and techniques to identify and resolve issues.
    • Participate in troubleshooting complex technical and functional issues across managed platforms.
    • Perform preliminary analysis and adhere to standard operating procedures when addressing support issues.
    • Enable and observe end-to-end monitoring of platforms for performance and availability; recognize and remediate anomalies.
    • DevOps, CI/CD, and Platform Support
    • Administer CI/CD and DevOps platforms (e.g., Jenkins, ArgoCD, Codefresh, Artifactory).
    • Monitor ticket queues and respond to incidents and service requests.
    • Provide on-call and after-hours support on a rotation, including Maintenance Windows no later than six months after hire.
    • Support and maintain runtime environments and platform services.
    • Agile & Collaboration
    • Actively participate in Agile practices: sprint planning, daily standups, demos, retrospectives, etc.
    • Collaborate with developers, cross-functional teams, partner engineering teams, and direct customers to understand requirements and engineer solutions.
    • Cross-train with peers on application runtime and supporting platforms.
    • Documentation & Communication
    • Maintain technical documentation in line with team/organizational standards.
    • Prepare content and deliver presentations to stakeholders.
    • Communicate clearly and professionally with users, providing updates and support instructions.

    Qualifications

    • 1+ year in software development
    • Experience with JavaScript, particularly with Node.js
    • Experience with GitHub, Jenkins, Codefresh, CI build processes, and use of APIs
    • Experience with data sources such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB is a plus
    • Experience with Java, Groovy, and Grails a plus
    • Familiarity with RabbitMQ, Splunk, Linux, Apache Solr is a plus
    • Experience with monitoring solutions is a plus (specific experience with Prometheus and Grafana is a strong plus)
    • Comfortable with coding in languages as required, such as shell scripting, Python, and Go
    • Strong Linux skill set with demonstrated knowledge of operating system commands and administrative principles
    • Familiarity with container systems like Docker and the concepts of container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift is a plus
    • Experience with Ansible is a plus
    • Experience working with Cloud Providers is a plus
    • An agile mindset with experience in project organization, willingness to compromise, and the ability to work in a group setting
    • Team-oriented individual with a strong work ethic and a self-starter
    • Proven problem-solving, change management, and technical planning skills
    • Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills
    • A passion to learn new skills and new technology
