JOB SUMMARY
As an Associate Software Engineer in Global Lab Capabilities (GLC), you represent WWT as a junior level subject matter expert within automation and solution development and work towards constant self-improvement to become a senior level subject matter expert.
As a member of the GLC Automation Team, you will assist and lead in the research, development, build, and support of lab environments leveraging the NAIC/EIC/AIC facilities. The ATSA works with members of the automation and engineering teams to develop and implement solutions within our Integration Centers.
The Global Lab Capabilities Team (Consulting, Automation, and Solutions Architecture Validation) is responsible for developing and implementing industry-leading integrated technology solutions for some of the most technologically advanced IT, Finance, and Healthcare companies in the world. Our Architects help design automated solutions that allow our Engineering teams to build state-of-the-art solutions in a high-quality and high-demand environment.
Essential Functions
Creates and maintains automated solutions, including but not limited to, scripts and applications to deploy configurations and images (including bare metal and OS) over large-scale operations under direction from senior team members.
Assists in building and maintaining Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for automated testing and delivery of project solutions.
Uses and creates detailed documentation for all scripts, virtualization, and processes with mentorship.
Maintains and troubleshoots code in various languages.
Learns/demonstrates communication and presentation skills to engineering and senior-level team members and clients in areas around scripting, coding, and imaging.
Collaborates w/ WWT peers on leveraging technology to drive WWT business by developing innovative solutions for customers.
Active and passionate learner who is receptive to coaching from peers and leadership.
Identifies risks associated with any addition or change requested.
Evaluates work intake for complexity, scope, level of effort, and timing estimates.
Possesses entry-level skill in a primary engineering and automation domain.
REQUIREMENTS
Technical Degree from an Accredited Institution
A minimum of 2 years' progressive experience in a related field
Minimum (2) years working in the IT industry.
Basic understanding of one of the following: PowerShell, Python or Bash.
Scripting background/experience should be aimed at automating common CLI and API driven tasks.
General understanding of imaging formats and deployment solutions including, but not limited to Ghost, Altiris, Acronis, SCCM, MDT, DeployStudio, WDS and Clonezilla with an emphasis on the Windows Image format (WIM's).
Definition level understanding of PXE, FTP, TFTP, HTTP, DHCP, and DNS servers both Linux and Windows-based.
Basic understanding of Windows, Linux, BSD, and versions of OSX.
Basic understanding of virtual machines such as VMware or Hyper-V.
General familiarity with the command-line interface (CLI) for common Cisco router/switch hardware -- e.g., Catalyst, Nexus, ASR, and ISR product lines.
Basic familiarity with network, server, and storage equipment from additional OEMs such as Juniper, Arista, F5, Aruba, HP, Dell, and NetApp.
Foundational knowledge of networking products such as routers, switches, firewalls, CDN, DNS, Windows, and/or Linux/UNIX server.
Experience in front-end and back-end web development a plus.
General understanding of TCP/IP networking and related protocols.
Familiarity with Source Control Code and Container Repository (GitHub, GitLab).
Knowledge of programming fundamentals desired.
Passion for learning new technologies.
