Your Role and Responsibilities

IBM Research's Polymer Sustainability Department at IBM's Almaden Research Center is seeking a candidate to work in process chemistry and scale up of polymer recycling processes. You should have a chemical engineering background with proven chemistry skills. Process development, use of characterization tools (IR, NMR, HPLC, DSC, etc.) to monitor chemical reactions and product purity, familiarity with organic and polymer reactions are key focus areas for this position. Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry is required while a Master's degree is preferred. This is a long-term supplemental position.

• Chemical Engineering - 1 year
• Synthetic Chemistry process development-1 year
• Use of characterization tools-1 year
• Organic and polymer reactions (polymerization techniques)-1 year
• Organic synthesis-1 year

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Proven verbal and written communication skills
• Scaling up chemical processes in a manufacturing environment-1 year
