This position is for an electrical/computer engineer within Zebra Technologies' Chief Technology Office. This engineer will be a member of a highly skilled and motivated team that develops/innovates businesses and technologies that are new or adjacent to existing Zebra businesses/technologies. The CTO engineering team incubates new ideas and technologies and prepares them for adoption in new or existing solutions and businesses.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, and tests on a variety of electrical engineering assignments that constitute a portion of a larger project.
• Develops and tests documentation which describes the specific electrical or software functionality.
• Participates and provides some input in project design or code reviews.
• Runs tests designed by more experienced engineers.
• Reviews test results and perform root cause analyses to identify problems.
• Provides recommendations and implements solutions to complex issues. Insures compliance with quality process and standards.
• Makes changes to or upgrades existing electrical designs. Enhances and improves existing technologies to apply to new solutions.
• Makes and implements recommendations to immediate team to enhance performance and improve productivity.
• Seeks out new tools to analyze and solve problems.
• Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
• Receives general instructions on routine work, new projects or assignments.
• May provide guidance to non-exempt personnel.
• Builds productive working relationships internally and externally.
• Primary intra-organizational with occasional inter-organizational and external customer contacts on routine matters
• Creates and analyzes intellectual property and participates in activities related to protecting intellectual property
• Maintains awareness of competitor products and development efforts in order to help formulate designs that surpass the competition
• Helps to develop next generation ideas and solutions to meet client needs and beat the competition

Required:

• BS/MS in Computer Engineering or related field.
• C++ Object oriented programming ability required.
• Working knowledge of Linux
• Experience in developing embedded firmware
• Able to read and interpret circuit schematics

Familiarity with the following a plus:

• Robot Operating System (ROS)
• Deep learning
• Machine vision
