    What you’ll be doing...

    The Verizon Business Group Strategy team holds a key role in helping shape this new path. As a key member of the VBG Strategy team’s Analytics Center of Excellence, you will be finding and analyzing data to answer a number of strategic questions to support our executive team in the Verizon Business Group. Your analyses will form the basis of recommendations that shape the way Verizon goes to market, services our customers, builds new products, and much more! These requests will come from all corners of the organization including Global Enterprise, Business Markets, Product, and Strategic Governance. You will support these strategy professionals across our organization in the development of their strategic recommendations when it comes to everything from data sourcing to query formulation to data stitching to analytical modelling. In order to succeed, you will become an expert in Verizon’s data architecture and ecosystems as well as developing and maintaining strong relationships with the key data stakeholders in the company.

    • Collaborating with stakeholders, data engineers, developers, and business leaders on initiatives that require an analytical expertise and/or an analytical solution

    • Sourcing data from key stakeholders, company systems, surveys, and external 3rd party sources

    • Efficiently joining and manipulating numerous large, disparate datasets, ensuring data integrity and accuracy

    • Identifying and implementing opportunities for parallel processing and query optimization to improve data retrieval times

    • Contributing to the development and enhancing of data warehousing solutions

    • Investigating data issues to resolve inconsistencies and ensuring high quality

    • Finding answers to difficult strategic questions through deep analysis and formulating actionable recommendations

    • Socializing solutions and gathering feedback to ensure accuracy and actionability of analysis and recommendations

    • Visualizing data and building presentations to help stakeholders, leaders, and executives understand the analysis

    • Leveraging advanced analytics/modeling to examine word frequency and sentiment, cluster natural groupings, and predicting key phenomena to help us prioritize the right things

    • Asking good questions and probing deeply to learn more every day about important business processes and opportunities

    What we’re looking for...

    You’ll need to have:

    • A Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience

    • Four or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience

    • Proficiency using SQL

    • Understanding of advanced data engineering (e.g., building data pipelines, data cleansing, fuzzy matching, etc.)

    • Understanding of advanced statistical methods (e.g., regression, classification algorithms, gradient boosted ensembles, etc.) and experience in data analytics platforms and visualization software tools

    • Ability to translate complex ideas and express them in concise, simple to understand ways

    • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, meet deadlines, and simultaneously work on multiple projects

    • Comfortable working across all levels of an organization, leveraging organizational, interpersonal, presentation, and time-management skills

    Even better if you have one or more of the following:

    • Advanced degree in a technical field (in particular, Data Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Analytics) or MBA

    • Two or more years of experience in a quantitative/technical role (e.g., data engineering, data science, applied analytics, mathematics, engineering, etc.), even better for a tier 1 management consulting firm

    • Proficiency using Python or R

    • Knowledge of data engineering and data science tools (e.g., Alteryx, Knime) and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau)

    • Experience with business problem definition, insight synthesis, and executive communication

    Where you’ll be working

    In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.

    The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.

    The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $105,500.00 - $184,000.00.
