This position is responsible for preparing and filing state regulatory filings by working with various taxing authorities and financial systems to analyze data while adhering to regulatory compliance laws and regulations, while also working on projects and other related tasks.

    Responsibilities

    • Prepare State and Local Regulatory filings to maintain compliance with the Public Utility Commissions (PUC), SUSF, TRS, High-Cost Fund, and other State Regulatory Agencies, and third-party fund administrators for all Verizon-owned companies

    • Ensure that filings are accurately and timely filed in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, judicial decisions, and rulings

    • Prepare payments, manage liabilities and expenses related to the tax returns; work with AP, Treasury, and various in-house payment systems

    • Assist with analysis related to mergers and acquisitions (including due diligence), Reconciliations, Budgets, Metrics, Cash Forecasting, and other monthly reports

    • Ensuring adherence to all SOX controls

    • Assist with all regulatory-related audits, billing inquiries, and resolve notices

    • Conduct research as needed to comply with legislative changes and implement best compliance practices

    • Focus on identifying process improvements and streamlining existing procedures.

    You'll need to have:

    • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

    • Four or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience.

    Even better if you have one or more of the following:

    • 3-5 years of experience in Tax, Finance, or equivalent; Regulatory experience is a plus

    • Advanced computer skills are required (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

    • Experience with tax research, tax accounting, SOX processes, telecommunication taxes, and tax saving strategies is preferred

    • The ability to prioritize deliverables with competing timelines is required

    • The candidate must accurately manage deadlines

    • Must have solid oral, written, and analytical skills

    • Should possess the ability to work equally well both independently and while working within a team

    • Proficient with large volume data analysis needed for the preparation and filing of tax returns (i.e., knowledge of billing systems, etc.)

    • Previous exposure to SAP (or other major General Ledger Suite Software) is a plus

    • Working knowledge of automation tools (i.e., Alteryx, Qlik), technical skills are a plus

    • Special projects assistance

    In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.

    The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.

    The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $80,500.00 - $141,000.00.
