What you'll be doing...

This position is responsible for preparing state regulatory filings by working with various financial systems to analyze data while adhering to regulatory compliance laws, projects, and other related tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare Regulatory filings to maintain compliance with the Public Utility.
• Commissions (PUC), State Regulatory Agencies, and third-party fund administrators for all Verizon-owned companies.
• Ensure that filings are accurately and timely filed in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, judicial decisions, and rulings.
• Prepare payments, manage liabilities and expenses related to the tax returns; work with AP, Treasury, and various in-house payment systems.
• Assist with analysis related to mergers and acquisitions (including due diligence), Reconciliations, Budgets, Metrics, Cash Forecasting and other monthly reports.
• Ensuring adherence to all SOX controls.
• Assist with all Regulatory audits, billing inquiries, and resolve notices.
• Conduct research as needed to comply with legislative changes and implement best compliance practices.
• Focus on identifying process improvements and streamlining existing procedures.

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have:

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting or four or more years of work experience.
• Four or more years of relevant work experience in Tax, Finance, or equivalent.
• Advanced computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to prioritize deliverables with competing timelines and accurately manage deadlines.
• Solid oral, written, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work equally well both independently and within a team.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• Proficient with large volume data analysis needed for the preparation and filing of tax returns (i.e. knowledge of billing systems, etc.).
• Experience with tax research, tax accounting, SOX processes, telecommunication taxes, and tax-saving strategies.
• Previous exposure to PeopleSoft or SAP (or other major General Ledger Suite Software).
• Working knowledge of automation tools (i.e. Alteryx, Qlik) and technical skills are a plus.
• Regulatory experience is a plus.
• Experience in assisting with or contributing to special/ad-hoc projects.
