    The 5G Core IP Engineer is a vital consulting and engineering resource for Wireless Professional Service in the delivery of 5G Network products and services.

    In this role you will work directly with customers to integrate cellular solutions into their network. You will document and refine customer network design deliverables in support of the delivery of the cellular solutions. You will assist customers with setting up alerts and notifications relevant to the operation of their cellular solution. You will educate customers on how to enable service on their devices including SIM Provisioning and user equipment configuration. You will train the customer on how to use the cellular solutions, manage their system, and engage the correct support resources. You will demonstrate the value of Verizon Wireless by identifying areas of improvement for the 5G Wireless Delivery team, maintaining a high level of quality and professionalism within assigned tasks, and increasing organizational exposure through direct engagement with pre and post sales organizations in multiple capacities. You will share experience and knowledge through technical sessions, and lead by example, both through professional interactions and the continued pursuit of expert level knowledge within multiple fields. You will develop trusted technical advisor relationships with internal organizations. You will accept individual ownership of critical issues, creatively thinking through to develop resolutions.

    The 5G Core IP Engineer will use the compelling assets of Verizon to provide consultation and support the delivery of 5G Network products and services including:

    • Private Wireless Networks

    • Private LTE Networks

    • Private 5G NSA Networks

    • Private 5G SA Networks

    • Coverage Solutions

    In Building Coverage

    • Neutral Host Networks

    • DAS

    Current and future Cellular Network technology

    In this role you will be responsible for:

    • Collaborating and use basic principles in responsibilities for the radio design of all of the various wireless technologies within the Network. Manages the growth of the RF Network by installing, configuring, and testing wireless radio access network equipment and software components to ensure optimal performance. May work with vendors in the planning and selection of equipment.

    • Developing the RF network by installing, configuring, and testing the hardware and software components within their territory.

    • Designing the layout of the various network components to ensure the most efficient propagation and performance of the network.

    • Conducting testing and modeling of the RF network to identify concerns and opportunities for improvement.

    • Working with OEMs and other vendors to determine the equipment required for their territories or resolve concerns in the network.

    • Coordinating with other network engineers to ensure sites are properly installed while meeting all company and regulatory requirements.

    You’ll need to have...

    • Bachelor’s Degree or four or more years of work experience

    • Three or more years of relevant work experience

    • Three or more years of technical, customer facing work experience

    • Three or more years of experience with cellular solutions, design, and deployment in areas such as Mobile Private Network, Private LTE, 5G. This includes experience in 5G/4G Call Processing with knowledge of protocols and new and existing features (For example QCI, Access Baring, QoS, Slicing, etc.)

    • Experience with cellular user equipment selection and provisioning.

    • Experience designing cellular solutions

    • Experience leading a design-related discussion with leading questions to fully vet solution requirements and develop a proposed design fulfilling said requirements, identify potential impacts of a given design recommendation, knowledge of other technologies and their network requirements/impact, ability to produce comprehensive yet understandable technical documentation (design document, diagrams, etc.).

    • Experience with formal written business communication and presentations

    • Must be able to travel up to 25%

    Even Better If You Also Have:

    • Bachelor's degree or higher with a STEM focus (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) OR 4+ years of military service within a communications specialty (i.e. tactical data communications, technical controller, satellite communications, cyber security, etc.) OR 4+ years of experience within network engineering and other data communications fields.

    • Network routing experience

    • CCNA, CCNP or CompTIA Network+ certifications

    • Experience with network infrastructure design, implementation, and advanced network troubleshooting experience

    • Five or more years of technical experience and increasing responsibility (team lead, mentoring, and technical lead for large, multi-technology deployments).

    • Experience in other wireless products such as enterprise messaging, mobile device management, Push to Talk (PTT), etc.

    • Experience with any of the following: cellular WAN technologies and solutions, WAN optimization, Wireless LAN, datacenter technologies (load balancers, datacenter switching, etc.), virtualization technologies and concepts (Hypervisors, orchestration, software defined datacenter, NFV, etc.), security appliances and concepts (firewalls, IPS/IDS, identity management, access controls, etc.).

    • Understanding of 3GPP Specifications for 5G/LTE, specifically Rel-15/16.

    • Experience correlating business drivers and needs (financial drivers, impacts, and restrictions) into technical solutions, on proposed solutions.

    • Certifications and/or significant exposure in other technical areas such as CompTIA A+, CAPM, CBRS CPI, Vendor 5G Certifications, etc.

    • Knowledge and interest in emerging technologies such as MEC, IoT, SDN, NFV, etc.
