Asurion’s internship program is a 12-week internship to help rising seniors get a sneak peek into the technology world. Assigned to a team, interns will have their own projects to complete and present to leadership at the end of the summer. The program will provide the intern with a unique strategic perspective, professional and personal development along the way, and experiences to enhance their academic learnings. Our goal is to allow for the intern to make contributions throughout the summer through project work, presentations, and networking. Are you ready to join our award-winning virtual internship?

    Asurion’s Internship:

    • Open to rising seniors currently enrolled in undergrad pursuing a degree related to internship duties or major below.
    • The duration of the virtual internship is 12 weeks from May 17th to August 6th 2021.
    • Continuous learning and tailored on the job training in technology, product development and/or supply chain management.
    • Exposure to senior leadership including but not limited to onboarding, learning and development sessions, and team business case presentations.
    • Build an intern community through peer intern groups, mentors, direct intern leaders, senior leadership throughout the summer.

    The Team:

We’re an international team of Systems Administrators who support Asurion’s Windows Server and Active Directory operations. We help our partner teams on the front lines to keep Asurion running, and we work in the background to improve our Microsoft Server infrastructure and services year over year. Asurion is a collaborative place – our team resides within a larger team of IT professionals, and we get to work with many different groups and technologies. That means we never stop learning, and we’re not confined to our own silo.

    Responsibilities:

We’re looking for a knowledgeable, capable, and enthusiastic engineer to join our team. We need someone who can think and act logically, has a strong work ethic with a focus on high availability and reliability and is not afraid of learning new things. You’re right for the job if you want to work with Windows on a large scale, you have a passion for customer service and security, and you enjoy new technical challenges.

    • You’ll assist senior Active Directory engineers and architects as we transform our Windows infrastructure through upgrades and internal projects for improved performance, stability, and security.
    • You’ll help us find new ways to make our processes more efficient and consistent. This cuts down on errors and gets stuff done faster. We maintain automated scripts and modules for self-healing, LDAP and AD health checks, group management actions, server deployments, and more. We’re always looking to add to the list.
    • You’ll aide in Root Cause Analysis when services go down and help implement solutions, so we’re covered for next time.
    • You’ll investigate and learn to fix typical server errors, such as system performance bottlenecks, capacity constraints, stability problems, and authentication issues.
    • The MCI team is a popular group at Asurion, so you’ll get to work closely with colleagues on many of our partner teams – Linux, Database, Networking, VMware, Storage, Data Center Services, App Support, Endpoint Engineering, and others. If you have working knowledge in any of these areas, you’ll put it to good use.
    • You’ll demonstrate ‘Everyday Leadership’ for your specialty areas. You’ll have the opportunity to be trained and mentored as well as we constantly look to raise the capabilities of the entire group.
  • Qualifications

    Preferred Majors:

The student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Information Technology, Management Information Systems or related field, with a graduation date between August 2021 – May 2022

    Requirements:

    • Experience with server operating systems, preferably Microsoft
    • Scripting ability – PowerShell is our main language, but knowledge of any others is welcome.
    • You’ll need the ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical people. We work with plenty of both on a regular basis.
    • Have an interest in security and infrastructure automation
    • Technical background in any field is helpful, since it lets you talk to other teams using their language.
