Your Role and Responsibilities:

The IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service (IKS) is seeking a self-motivated software engineer who is excited about creating innovative products, solving complex problems, and interacting with cutting edge open-source technology including Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, ETCD, Istio, etc. The candidate will design, develop, test, deploy, and support the microservices responsible for cluster creation, deletion and updates, networking and ingress, API and CLIs, data modeling, and security compliance for a service that is revolutionizing the way organizations manage their applications and IT infrastructure.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise:

• 2+ years of experience with a programming language such as Go, Java, C, C++, Python

• 1+ years of experience developing in the cloud and microservice architecture / containerization

• 1+ years of experience developing in Go

• 1+ years of experience using Kubernetes as an orchestration system.

• Object-Oriented development and design principles

• Computer Science fundamentals in data structures and problem solving

• Great communication skills

• DevOps skills

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise:

• Experience using Docker to build and run applications.

• Experience with CI/CD frameworks including Jenkins and Travis CI.

• Experience owning and developing software in a production environment

• Experience with concurrent programming and concepts like locks, threads, and semaphores.

• Experience with network/application protocols including HTTPS, TCP/UDP, ARP, and IPv4.

• Experience with distributed system concepts including load balancers, key/value databases, and controller/worker architectures.
