About the role

The IT Infrastructure Engineering team runs Avanade’s internal technology infrastructure and applications. It plays a crucial role in trying out Microsoft technologies before we recommend them to clients to meet their particular business needs. This team primarily helps to ensure error-free operation of all Avanade IT systems, which are crucial to everything we do for our clients.

As an analyst in IT Infrastructure Engineering, you will help implement, support and maintain IT systems and applications, most of which are based on current Microsoft technologies. You will provide hardware and software support and implement operating system-level technology across our servers and networks. You may perform troubleshooting.

Day-to-day, you will:

• Help implement and test enhancements to our infrastructure
• Support infrastructure change and deployment efforts such as enterprise-wide business directories, desktop deployments and server consolidation
• Help Avanade migrate to new Microsoft systems and technologies as released
• Create build-automation guides for consistently repeatable server builds and deployments
• Create end-user training material for new platforms and technologies
• Support test activities
• Through troubleshooting and patch implementation, resolve incidents that affect production systems.

About you

Although part of a team, you are comfortable working on your own. You will be an individual contributor who is adept at analyzing problems, performing assigned tasks, and meeting deadlines without close supervision. Your expertise and conscientiousness will be crucial in ensuring that Avanade’s IT systems are world class and operate at peak efficiency.

Your technical skillset likely includes:

• Expertise in several of these areas: infrastructure solutions (especially Microsoft); hardware/software installation, virtualization and configuration; web server support; cloud technologies; networking; data center operations; platform migration; enterprise directories; Microsoft Exchange; Microsoft Internet Information Server; Windows Server; Microsoft SQL Server; Microsoft SharePoint
• Knowledge in operations management, systems security, testing, databases and mobility considerations
• Working knowledge of Windows PowerShell and scripting.

Your non-technical skillset includes:

• Ability to interact with internal stakeholders of diverse professional backgrounds
• Good communication and presentations skills
• Solid written and spoken English skills
• Four-year Bachelor's Degree

Your credentials very likely include some experience performing systems and infrastructure engineering. You likely have an undergraduate degree, especially in an IT-related field. Within two years of your hire date, you will likely have attained your Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate certification in Windows Server 2012 and your Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert certification in Server Infrastructure.
