    The Accounting Policy and External Reporting Senior Manager will be primarily responsible for the completion of research and documentation for technical accounting assessments and Verizon accounting policy matters. They will also be responsible for the review of quarterly earnings releases filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”),and other external metrics to include Verizon’s Greenhouse Gas emissions (“GHG”) as well as the preparation of executive presentations.

    • Assisting senior management with making critical business decisions by providing accurate accounting treatment and impact analysis.

    • Working with department and business leaders on front-end process ideas, solutions and change.

    • Establishing, maintaining and supporting compliance with company-wide accounting policies.

    • Researching accounting issues and preparing accounting documentation to ensure compliance with GAAP.

    • Developing and presenting technical accounting training sessions to accounting and finance employees.

    • Reviewing and providing technical mentorship for material transactions and complex accounting and reporting issues and providing subject matter expertise on the application of accounting principles.

    • Supporting implementation of new accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory accounting.

    • Accelerating transformation and change, crafting standard methodologies and driving continuous process improvement.

    • Researching emerging accounting and reporting issues and prepare and submit comment letters on behalf of the Company.

    • Supporting preparation of financial statements and external reporting requirements.

    • Review and preparation of quarterly and ad hoc earnings releases and audit committee materials.

    • Working to develop solutions to accounting / disclosure issues and identify possible solutions.

    • Calculating Verizon’s GHG emissions scope 1, 2 and 3 for inclusion in voluntary and involuntary reports.

    • Collaborating with the ESG and Risk Management teams to ensure consistent ESG target and metric reporting.

    • Interacting with the Company's external auditors.

    You’re diligent, organized, and on top of the details—your projects run like clockwork. You can look at the big picture and see how the pieces fit together. You can lead all aspects of multiple initiatives like a conductor leads an orchestra. Working independently is as comfortable for you as being part of a team. And you know accounting like the back of your hand.

    You’ll need to have:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

    • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

    • Experience in working in public accounting or SEC reporting experience.

    • Knowledge of US GAAP and SEC requirements and accounting practices.

    • Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.

    Even better if you have one or more of the following:

    • Master’s in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or equivalent.

    • CPA, or in process of obtaining with parts passed.

    • Strong analytical and communication skills.

    • Demonstrated strong technical financial skills and a comprehensive understanding of accounting, GAAP, PCAOB standards and SEC regulations.

    • Established project management experience and ability to work with numerous diverse groups throughout a very large organization.

    • Ability to meet strict deadlines in compressed time periods.

    • Demonstrated track record of attention to detail, time management and prioritization skills.

    • Knowledge of the complexities of a large global company and ability to operate within a matrix environment.

    • Experience in continuous improvement initiatives, root cause analysis and project management.
