    When you join Verizon

Verizon is one of the world’s leading providers of technology and communications services, transforming the way we connect across the globe. We’re a diverse network of people driven by our shared ambition to shape a better future. Here, we have the ability to learn and grow at the speed of technology, and the space to create within every role. Together, we are moving the world forward – and you can too. Dream it. Build it. Do it here.

    What you’ll be doing...

Verizon’s FCBA Public Policy Internship Program seeks to attract, develop and support law students who are interested in pursuing legal careers in technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) law and policy. This internship for 1L’s will provide exposure to the practice of law in a corporate legal setting and introduce interns to the diverse and complex nature of in-house legal practice at Verizon.

Interns will work in partnership with Verizon’s Public Policy Summer Interns and contribute to meaningful projects in our Public Policy, Law and Security organization. You will use your drive and enthusiasm to contribute to and learn about the diverse areas of law covered by our regulatory, privacy and security offices. Interns will also have the opportunity to work with different areas of the Verizon legal department, including Verizon’s worldwide Pro Bono Program. What you learn will help you grow professionally and personally.

In this role, you may have the opportunity to:

    • Research and summarize legal developments and/or case law in practice areas such as Antitrust, M&A, Compliance, Labor and Employment, IP, and Privacy.

    • Contribute to projects that relate to state and/or federal regulatory issues affecting the communications industry.

    • Produce written work product subject to our confidentiality restrictions.

    • Go on field trips to different offices, the US Capital, the Federal Communications Commission, and more to learn about different aspects of the law.

    What we’re looking for...

You’re a motivated self-starter. You thrive in a fast-paced environment where new challenges come up every day. You are flexible, dependable and work well in varying environments. Learning quickly is personally rewarding and inspires you to take smart risks.

    YOU’LL NEED TO HAVE:

    • Current full-time enrollment as a first-year law student in a law degree program with a grad date between December 2024 - June 2025.

    • Must be an active member of the Federal Communications Bar Association.

    • Willingness to work in Washington, DC.

    • Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship.

EVEN BETTER IF YOU HAVE ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING:

    • Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion in the legal profession (e.g., through membership in affinity groups, academic coursework, extra curricular and volunteer activities, etc).

    • Demonstrated strong verbal, written, communication and presentation skills.

    • Demonstrated independent thinking, relationship management, and attention to detail.

    • Analytical and leadership skills.

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every "even better" qualification listed above.

After the internship is successfully completed, you’ll become part of our Intern Alumni Network, with benefits like mentorship touch-bases, continued access to career panels and networking events and inclusion in our annual alumni events.
