The HRIS Data Security, Governance, and Compliance-Senior Manager is responsible for overseeing the security and regulatory compliance of HR data sources, ensuring the protection of sensitive employee information. This role involves enforcing policies, reviewing risk assessments, and collaborating with HR, IT, Legal, and others to maintain compliance with data protection laws such as HIPAA, GDPR, and other relevant regulations. Work closely with HR, IT Security, Legal, and third-party vendors to mitigate risks and uphold the highest data privacy standards.
HR Data Security & Compliance Oversight:
Ensuring that employees' data is protected and used across Verizon.
Reviewing and approving any/all projects, reports, and integrations that request the use of employee data.
Interpreting and enforcing international and domestic data privacy laws, ensuring employee privacy comes first.
Directing teams on appropriate usage, architecture, and storage of employee data.
Conducting daily Workday audits by extracting and analyzing Splunk logs to verify valid transactional activities.
Maintaining the Workday database to support historical data analysis and generate reports for required reviews.
Developing and maintaining VBS Scripts, SQL queries, and modules to support the workday audit processes.
Maintaining Access database objectives to support processes as needed.
Producing daily file extracts from the audit database for review, verification, and validation of user activity.
Updating information upon completion of month-end reviews of transactional code for inclusion and exclusion within the audit process.
Reviewing data requests to be implemented into the Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Coordinating with the internal Verizon information security teams on projects as needed.
Evaluating and refining existing processes to enhance efficiency and improve overall productivity, while identifying opportunities for automation and best practices implementation.
Reviewing access controls and data governance, ensuring that sensitive employee information is protected.
Assessing and approving internal customers and systems handling HR data, ensuring compliance with company security policies and standards.
Defining design requirements for employee data use cases for internal Verizon Business Groups, IT, Reporting, Legal, and external vendors.
Regulatory & Policy Compliance:
Ensuring compliance with data protection laws such as HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant regulations.
Creating and maintaining policies related to employee data privacy and security.
Vendor & Third-Party Risk Management:
Reviewing and assessing HR-related vendors and third-party service providers for security, compliance risks, and HIPAA policies. Including the onboarding of new vendors.
Reviewing vendors to include appropriate data protection agreements, compliance requirements, and evaluating vendors to ensure proper handling of employee data based on Verizon requirements and policies.
Collaboration & Training:
Acting as a liaison between HR, IT, Legal, Compliance, and other teams to ensure a cohesive data security strategy.
Developing and delivering training programs for HR staff on data security best practices and compliance requirements.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or a related field.
Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training
Six or more years of experience in data security, HR compliance, or a related field.
Experience in HR security, vendor risk, and regulatory compliance.
Experience and understanding of HR data privacy laws and regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR).
Knowledge of Workday reporting, Excel advanced formulas, SPLUNK query and reporting, MS Access, Python, and VBS.
Analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to work cross-functionally with HR, IT, Legal, and Compliance teams.
Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.
A degree.
Relevant certifications (CISM, CISA, or similar).

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $111,500.00 - $194,000.00.
