    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    The Leidos Innovations Center (LInC) is seeking a data-driven intern to join our multi-disciplinary team in researching, building, and implementing Human-Machine Teaming (HMT) environments. Primary efforts for the intern concern a next-generation neuroadaptive Human-Machine Interface (HMI) for military operators. This position is ideal for individuals looking to apply their academic understanding of data science and/or human psychology in exciting projects with customers such as the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). The successful intern will collaborate with leading expert practitioners in computer, data, and behavioral sciences to develop solutions with real-world impact on cognitive load, situation awareness, and trust in Human-Machine Teaming environments. Interested applicants should be available to work in Leidos’ Chantilly, Virginia office area starting in May 2023.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Work as part of a team of Leidos computer/data/behaviors scientists to implement and assess human-centered, neuroadaptive technologies for military operational environments.

    • Tasking by project team as needed.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Currently pursuing an undergraduate education in Data Science, Psychology (including Behavior Science and Human Factors) or related field, with at least one year completed. Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale).

    • Ability to apply principles, theories and concepts of data science and/or human factors to Human-Machine Teaming solutions.

    • Ability to use critical thinking and problem-solving to contribute to solution-development for team problems.

    • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in text.

    • Detail-oriented, with excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

    • Ability to obtain DoD security clearance- US Citizenship required.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Undergraduate or graduate degree in a field related to data science and/or human psychology.

    • Basic understanding of statistics in applied research.

    • Working knowledge of one or more programming languages (Python desired).

    • Experience with data visualization and data quality control.

    • Desire to continue working with Leidos on a part-time basis during the school year.

    PAY RANGE:

    • $37,050.00 - $57,000.00 - $76,950.00

    The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
