    JOB SUMMARY

    CenturyLink's internship program is a 10 week, fast-paced and exciting opportunity to gain professional experience within your field of study and career interest. Interns within the Strategic Enterprise group will be part of an accelerated learning experience within our Federal group, to challenge skills learned in the classroom and develop new skills while working on active CenturyLink work projects. The internship will take place in Herndon, Virginia and will work with the Strategic Government Department of Defense (DoD) Program Management Office (PMO), supporting a range of DoD customers delivering the full spectrum of telecommunications products and services as well as customer unique cyber and professional services. In addition, interns will connect to our company culture through community outreach projects, engage with our employee resource groups and be able to develop their professional skills and business acumen through frequent exposure to senior leadership, cutting-edge technology, groundbreaking projects, and a network of mentors and fellow interns.     JOB DESCRIPTION

    • Work closely with others from across the Account Team (Sales, Sales Engineers, Solution Architects, Contracts, Procurement, Program Controls, Legal, Offer Management, etc.).
    • Develop skills necessary to lead cross-functional teams in the planning and execution of DoD telecom projects.
    • Support all aspects of service delivery from developing technical solutions, crafting proposals, implementation, and follow on customer care for the life of the account.
    • Rotate through several DoD PMO teams that support dedicated programs such as the Defense Research and Engineering Network as well as those that support Defense Information Services Agency (DISA) fiber backbone and cyber programs.
    • Gain exposure to the full spectrum of supported DoD services.
    • Assist proposal development team to gain experience translating customer requirements into winning proposals.
    • Work with account team supporting delivery of the full spectrum of traditional telecommunications services to specific DoD customers.
    • Learn to apply sound program management skills, tools, and processes while developing problem solving and risk management techniques applicable to almost any work environment.
  • Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Pursing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical degree such as Information Systems, Information Technology, or Telecommunications Science.
    • Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university; preferred senior level status at the start of the internship (graduating after August 2020).
    • Minimum Cumulative GPA: 3.0 or higher.
    • Must have transportation to/from work daily.
    • Must be available to work 30 - 40 hours per week, during the specified 10-week timeframe.
    • Ability to understand and apply technical aspects of telecommunications services such as: VPNS, IPS, IPVS, Toll Free Service, Access Arrangements as well as installation and project management processes.
    • Ability to work effectively in a matrix team environment.
    • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintains excellent customer relationships.
    • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills.
    • Proficient in MS-Outlook, MS Project, Excel and Word.
    • Attention to detail a must.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Work Authorization required.
    • Available during specified internship timeframe; June 1, 2020 - August 7, 2020.
