    THE TEAM

Born from X, the moonshot factory, and working alongside teams at Google, we’re building a new type of robot. One that can learn by itself, to help anyone with (almost) anything. With one foot in today, and the other in tomorrow, we seek to turn the helper robots of science fiction novels into reality. Doing this requires taking on the hardest problems in robotics. All so we can work towards a future where helper robots are a part of a better everyday, for everyone.

We know that no company, no moonshot, no wild idea is greater than the efforts of the people behind it. Our team is thoughtful, driven and deliberately diverse, working together in a creative and collaborative environment, where everyone’s perspectives and expertise is valued.

We’re looking for industrial design interns! Find out more about us, and meet the people behind the robots on our website.

    YOUR IMPACT

You’ll be one of the first interns at the newly formed Design Team at Everyday Robots. We are a small, highly collaborative team of upbeat and exceptional designers and makers; you will participate in defining what an Everyday Robot is, how they will become meaningful and delightful, and deliver on our Moonshot.

At the intersection of creativity, design, engineering and human-robot interaction your role is to help:

    • Foster an emerging design culture within a bleeding edge robotics company.

    • Deliver exceptional industrial design (ID) across autonomous robot products and experiences.

    • Shape color-material-finish (CMF) strategy and implementation.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

Work closely with the EDR design team to either:

    • Contribute to all phases of the industrial design (ID) process, from concept to CMF development and implementation.

    • Support interaction design (IXD) partners in developing human-robot interaction (HRI) frameworks, prototypes and hardware implementations

    • Actively research and communicate design trends, especially across colors, materials and finishes (CMF).

    • Contribute to an evolving set of EDR design principles and put them into practice

    • Closely collaborate with cross functional teams, including product, engineering and marketing.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Strong industrial design portfolio, demonstrating attention to detail, form development, problem solving, materials, color and manufacturing processes. Please include URL(s) to an online portfolio in addition to your resume, as submissions without a portfolio included will not be considered. See tips on preparing for your design portfolio.

    • Pursuing or recently acquired Bachelor's or Masters in Industrial Design (or equivalent practical experience).

    • Proficient verbal, written, and visual communication, storytelling, and presentation skills.

    • Proficient sketching, form development, 2D/3D visualization, CAD modeling, rendering and graphic skills using industry standard 2D and 3D tools such as Photoshop/Illustrator, Rhino, Solidworks, and Keyshot.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Prior internship or Co-Op experience

    • Demonstrated technical and manufacturing knowledge

    • Passion for CMF development

    • Passion for interaction design
