    The Senior Innovation Principal acts as a vital bridge between complex technical solutions and critical business objectives, applying deep vertical industry expertise and strategic vision to achieve optimal customer outcomes within Verizon Business Group (VBG)'s Manufacturing/Energy/Utility Practice.

    This role is designed to initiate, drive, and manage the overall innovation strategy and direction for key enterprise clients in the U.S. utilities and energy sectors. Engaging directly with executive-level leaders (C-level to VP), the Senior Innovation Principal establishes joint partnerships for Industry 4.0 and Digital Transformation initiatives. This position serves as a key thought leader within VBG, bolstering Verizon's internal and external credibility through expert client engagement, business development, and ecosystem relationships.

    Core Responsibilities

    • Strategic Growth & Business Development

    ◦ Drive strategic growth of Verizon's business with Global Enterprise customers in the energy and utilities markets, particularly among Investor-Owned Utilities (IOUs), and support the expansion into Municipal Owned Utilities (MOUs) and Public Sector accounts.

    ◦ Initiate, guide, and execute funnel opportunities for both existing run-rate business and strategic advanced solutions in partnership with Client Partners and Regional Sales Leaders.

    ◦ Support large VBG opportunities and funnel growth across four key vectors of VBG growth.

    ◦ Develop and deliver use cases enabled by cutting-edge Verizon solutions to energy and utility customers, selling the value of these solutions through a highly consultative and forward-thinking approach.

    • Industry Engagement & Thought Leadership

    ◦ Actively participate in and provide leadership in key Industry Affiliation Groups, such as DistribuTECH, EPRI, Edison Electric Institute, API, AGA and UBBA.

    ◦ Engage with industry analysts and represent Verizon in vertical events, including speaking roles at conferences, webinars, and podcasts.

    ◦ Leverage deep industry expertise in client engagements, business development, and ecosystem relationships to shape Verizon's go-to-market portfolio and foster a forward-looking approach that resonates with customers and the overall industry.

    • Knowledge Sharing & Internal Collaboration

    ◦ Serve as a critical source of vertical industry knowledge and expertise, disseminating insights through multiple VBG channels to core account teams and internal stakeholders, acting as a "force-multiplier".

    ◦ Provide essential industry guidance and insight for sales support across various General Enterprise segments and Public Sector teams.

    ◦ Contribute input for new product development, identifying and developing repeatable products and services across private and public sector utilities.

    ◦ Collaborate with Public Sector teams to identify and execute on points of convergence and common solutions, such as grid security.

    • Solution Design & Implementation Leadership

    ◦ Provide guidance and strategic insight to clients on solving complex business problems through integrated Verizon solutions, including Customer Experience, Digital Workplace, Security, IoT, Network (including Private Wireless, Neutral Host and Private Field Area Networks), and Edge Compute solutions.

    ◦ Guide teams of solution architects, adoption specialists, and deal experts to drive the development and implementation of opportunities in the utility and energy markets.

    ◦ Establish collaborations and partnering programs with respected industry leaders such as Itron, Honeywell, Schneider, and Siemens, enabling a comprehensive connected energy ecosystem.

    You'll need to have:

    -Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

    -Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

    -Willingness to travel.

    -Extensive experience working in the manufacturing vertical. The position requires extensive first-hand knowledge of the following concepts:

    -Required Expertise & Focus Areas

    The successful candidate will possess deep knowledge and practical experience in the U.S. utilities and energy markets, with a particular emphasis on:

    • Grid Modernization: Understanding of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) 2.0, Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), and automated grid applications to improve forecasting, resilience, and support renewables.

    • Cybersecurity & Operational Technology (OT) Security: Expertise in defending cyber and voice networks, protecting critical infrastructure, and navigating regulatory compliance around security and customer data. Knowledge of cyber protection systems like identity and access controls, heuristic monitoring, and network isolation ("air gap") is a plus.

    • Private LTE/5G Networks: Comprehensive understanding of the drivers for utility adoption of private Long-Term Evolution (LTE) and 5G networks, including enhanced functionality, reliability, security, scalability, and economic advantages. This role will capitalize on the significant market growth, with utilities accelerating private 5G/4G network spending.

    • Industrial IoT (IIoT) & Connected Assets: Experience with deploying applications that collect and utilize data from a wide variety of grid assets, such as smart meters, gas sensors, voltage regulators, smart fields, connected refineries and drones. Specific knowledge in areas like Intelligent Lighting, Field Area Networks, and Condition Based Maintenance is a plus.

    • Digital Transformation Initiatives: Guiding utilities in rolling out new or enhanced workforce management, safety, customer engagement, and other applications that integrate with vehicles, field workers, cloud, and IoT technologies.

    This position can be located in most other valid Verizon locations in US Hub locations.

    Where you’ll be working

    In this mobile role, you'll primarily work from customer or field location(s), with occasional visits to a Verizon location for in-person training and meetings.

    The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.

    The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $138,500.00 - $265,000.00.

    The annual salary range for the Colorado location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $152,500.00 - $265,000.00.
