THE ROLE

During a 10- week period, our summer interns innovate and make an impact by transforming industries across the globe and changing the world one connection at a time. Our interns are presented with real business challenges and provide solutions that make a difference across all areas of the company, all while learning the skills needed to successfully navigate the modern workplace. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands on experience working within the corporate legal function for a Fortune 200 company. Lumen is seeking a high caliber and energetic First Year Law Student to join our 2023 Summer Internship Program. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work across a variety of substantive legal practice areas, potentially including privacy and data security, commercial, contracting, product review, financial and consumer regulation, intellectual property, corporate governance, and M&A.

THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Following your summer experience, you should expect to have an awareness of the complexities and challenges of working within the in-house legal department of a global organization. You will assist on a variety of projects and tasks and should generally be flexible and available to assist with day-to-day activities across the legal department. The ideal candidate will be able to work semi-independently in a fast-paced environment. Law students with prior experience in technology are encouraged to apply.
Your summer experience may include:
Assisting in-house legal counsel in diverse areas of telecommunications law including; commercial contracts, intellectual property, real estate, litigation, labor and employment, advertising and marketing and corporate governance
Conducting legal research and drafting legal memoranda
Drafting contracts, agreements, and releases
Conducting legal due diligence and litigation discovery
Assisting with various labor and employment projects
WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN A CANDIDATE
Enrolled in a 4-year college/university having successfully completed your first year of law school required;
Available 40 hours per week during the summer; June 2, 2023 – Aug 11, 2023
Ability to relocate for internship, if applicable;
Transportation to/from work location, if applicable;
Outstanding written and oral communication skills;
Ability to work both in teams and independently;
Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously, with effective resolution of conflicting priorities;
Strong project management skills;
Authorization to work in the United States for the duration of the internship;
3.0 or above cumulative GPA preferred
