  • Responsibilities

    As an Intern - Automation Engineer you will analyze problems, gather requirements, design, develop and configure the IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS management layers that support the integration, automation, testing, deployment and ongoing operations of software releases for Acxiom's IT infrastructure. You will write code to develop tools that support the full IT lifecycle, from procurement through service operations. You will interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications. Internship details:

    • The internship will begin on January 5, 2022 or May 23, 2022
    • Our intention is to have interns work on-site in Conway, Arkansas if possible. However, your internship may begin virtually and could continue virtually for its entirety. We plan to transition interns to on-site work when teams transition back into the office, but we currently do not have a timeline for this transition
    • 20-25 hours/week work dedication during the semester and up to 40/week during breaks and summer
    • Anticipated graduation date between May 2022 - December 2022
    • Applicants for this internship position with Acxiom in the U.S. must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States and with Acxiom (i.e., H1-B visa, F-1 visa (CPT/OPT), TN visa or any other non-immigrant status)

    What you will do:

    • Work closely with engineers to contribute to design and reliability discussions to maintain fault-tolerant systems
    • Track our various internal and external monitoring tools and systems to evaluate production capacity and performance
    • Tackle issues across the board - hardware, software, applications, network
    • Help build platform components to make Dev teams more efficient
    • Define processes for automating release deployments from QA to Production
    • Collaborate on environmental needs working with the Architect and/or lead Developer
    • Help design and implement the build and release ecosystem
    • Create/modify product environment diagrams and material specification documentation
    • Create/modify the Support Run Book with contributions from Dev teams as needed
    • Provide primary support for products in Test, Cert and Prod Environments

    What you will need:

    • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information systems, or related field
    • Basic knowledge of coding languages (e.g. Java, .NET)
    • Experience with shell scripting and at least one of the following scripting languages - Python, Ruby, Perl
    • Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle
    • Track record of practical solving and excellent communication skills
    • Tack-sharp analytical abilities, coupled with a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive

    What will set you apart:

    • Understanding of installation practices applicable to the OS its running
    • Basic understanding of any of: Jenkins, Nexus, Kubernetes, Confluence, Service Now, Outlook, Lucidchart, GIT, and Public Cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure)
    • Support and maintain existing technologies/processes while researching, prototyping, and implementing new solutions
    • Passion for open source communities and philosophies
    • Familiarity with system management tools - i.e. Ansible, Chef
