    The Main Responsibilities

    Lumen is searching for a Billing Software Engineer Intern to join our development team for the summer of 2024 supporting our suite of billing applications. This person will partner in an agile team environment to develop code, test, and debug new software or enhancements to existing software. Develop solutions across many disciplines and be responsible for explaining solutions and procedures. Apply principles, theories and concepts and use methodologies, tools, documentation processes and test procedures to complete projects

    Day-to-day could include:

    • Partnering in an Agile Scrum team environment to be able to develop code, test, debug and support in production new software or enhancements to existing software
    • Working closely with the technical staff to create solutions that meet business and technical requirements
    • Collaborating with product developers in a fast-moving agile team to define and implement effective and efficient automated tests
    • Documenting your own work to promote transparency and reuse
    • Building unit tests, debug integration issues and deploy emergency patches as needed
    • Building production-quality enterprise-grade systems that achieve target SLAs for scalability, reliability, and performance on schedule
    • Accountability for successfully completing assignments or tasks; making clear, specific commitments to deliver results

    What We Look For in a Candidate

    Education Requirements

    • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in an IT-related degree program such as CIS or Computer Science.
    • Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university; [junior/senior or Master’s level] education status at the start of the internship, graduating August 2024 – June 2025
    • US work authorization is required

    Proficiency and understanding of;

    • Familiarity with various versioning tools and college algorithms
    • Familiarity with Visual Studio and C# development
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

    2. Eager to learn – Technology is constantly changing, and having the drive to learn new technology and apply it is essential to success
    3. Team Player – You’ll need to rely on other people to be complete the project, and need to work well with others
    4. Problem-Solver – you will need to be able to analyze a situation and make recommendations for resolutions, sometimes these answers are not obvious

    Work Setting

    • This is a fully remote – work from home position.
    • Intern must be able to work 30-40 hours per week during the 10-week program (June – August)

    This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

    This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
