THE ROLE

THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Data Analyst intern in our North American Operations organization, you will work collaboratively with our Field and Field Business Operations Team to support end-to-end Portfolio Management including data analytics and reporting. This position will work with data relevant to cost transformation portfolios, capital and revenue projects, as well as helping craft strategies to move field operations into the future. Tasks during the 10 weeks may require you to transform data into information that can be utilized to make business decisions and actions.  You will need a high level of engagement and ability to take initiative, ask questions, learn quickly, and work in a team environment. Other tasks may include:

-    Acquiring data from multiple sources  -    Creating analytics to define and drive new opportunities  -    Correcting any reporting and/or data issues  -    Ensuring that databases remain error-free and organized -    Spot trends and anomalies within statistical data, to include using reporting and statistics tools  -    Work with various software packages, from reporting tools to statistical applications -    Strong job candidates will need to be able to quickly pick up new computer programs and use them efficiently   

WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN A CANDIDATE

-    Education Requirements  -    Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university- rising senior status at the start of the internship, graduating August 2022 – May 2023. -    Major/Degree: In pursuit of degree in Data Science, Computer Science, MIS, Mathematics, Business Analytics, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field  -    Proficiency and understanding of: -    Microsoft Suites  -    Statistical and analytical tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Excel, Access, SQL)  -    Reporting and publishing tools (e.g., Microsoft Power Point, Visio, SharePoint, Teams)  -    Programming tools (e.g., XML, JavaScript, ETL frameworks) -    Computer skills -    Six Sigma is a plus -    Professional Attributes  -    Strong drive for results and taking initiative to resolve problems -    High attention to detail with STRONG organizational skills -    Time management skills -    Ability to interact with business partners and drive the conversation -    Comfortable communicating with stake holders   -    Ability to be resourceful and adaptable- independently AND in a team environment  -    Strong written and verbal communication skills  -    Analytical thinking – spot trends and anomalies within statistical data, to include using reporting and statistics tools -    Mathematics skills – good understanding of basic accounting/financial practices, statistical analysis techniques, capacity planning strategies, forecasting algorithms, and other similar math skills -    Flexible and adapts well to change -    Work Setting -    Ideally the position will be in one of the following offices: Broomfield, CO, Frisco, TX, Monroe, LA, or Remote/Work From Home -    Intern must be able to work 30-40 hours be week during the 10-week program (June – August) -    Intern must have reliable transportation to/from work location (Lumen does not provide transportation to/from Lumen office locations) -    US work authorization
