THE ROLE

LUMEN’S INTERNSHIP PROGRAM IS A PATH FOR CAREER READINESS IN THE 4TH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION.

Be a part of an internship program, driving human progress through technology.  During a 10- week period our summer interns innovate and make an impact by transforming industries across the globe and changing the world one connection at a time.  Our interns are presented with real business challenges and provide solutions that make a difference across all areas of the company, all while learning the skills needed to successfully navigate the modern workplace.

THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Data Analyst intern in our North American Operations organization, you will work collaboratively with our field business operations team to perform analytics and create data visualizations. Tasks during the 10 weeks will leverage data analytics to identify cost savings opportunities in the field operations space specifically related to technician productivity. Said tasks will work with large amounts of data gathered and require you to make business recommendations from insights gained by utilizing data analysis tools. You will need a high level of engagement and ability to take initiative, ask questions, learn quickly, and work in a team environment. Other tasks may include:

•     Working with large complex data sources 

•     Solving business problems with data driven analytics 

•     Working across multiple stakeholders to find innovative solutions

WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN A CANDIDATE

Education Requirements

•     Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university- rising senior or masters level status at the start of the internship, graduating August 2023 – May 2025.

•     Major/Degree: In pursuit of degree in MIS, CIS, Data Analytics, STEM or a related field.

Proficiency and understanding of:

•     Microsoft Suites 

•     Emphasis on excel knowledge

•     SQL

•     Pyhton

•     R

•     PowerBI 

•     Experience with Data Visualization tools is a plus

•     Cloud knowledge/experience is a plus

•     Data Analytics experience is a plus

Professional Attributes

•     Ability to collaborate and have agility while making effective decisions

•     Strong written and verbal communication skills 

•     Curious minded individual looking to resolve problems

•     Analytical thinker – spot trends and anomalies within statistical data

•     Mathematics skills – good understanding of basic accounting/financial practices, statistical analysis techniques, forecasting algorithms, and other similar math skills

•     Organization skills – ability to stay organized while working in dynamic environment.

Work Setting

•     Intern must be able to work 30-40 hours be week during the 10-week program (June – August)

•     Intern must have reliable internet for remote work (Lumen does not provide transportation to/from Lumen office locations)

•     US work authorization
