    JOB SUMMARY

    Lumen's internship program is a 10 week, fast-paced and exciting opportunity to gain professional experience within your field of study and career interest. Interns within the North American Operations organization will be part of an accelerated learning experience, to challenge skills learned in the classroom and develop new skills while working on active Lumen work projects. DATA SCIENTIST INTERNS WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO ASSIST WITH TRANSFORMATIONAL ANALYTICS PROJECTS TO ESTIMATE EXPECTED BENEFITS AND/OR DESIGN/EXECUTE A TEST PLAN TO ASSESS THOSE BENEFITS. The internship will take place in Broomfield, CO from 6/1/2021 - 8/13/2021.

    In addition, interns will connect to our company culture through community outreach projects, engaging with our employee resource groups and developing their professional skills and business acumen through exposure to senior leadership, cutting-edge technology, groundbreaking projects, and a network of mentors and fellow interns.     JOB DESCRIPTION

    • Conduct exploratory data analysis on relevant data sets
    • Assist with hypothesis testing
    • Develop to implement objective deliverables
    • Field testing of proposed solutions
    • Present on final data analysis, conclusions and next steps
  • Qualifications
    • Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university
    • Graduating between August 2021 - May 2023
    • In pursuit of bachelor's or master's in data science or related degree program
    • Intern is responsible for their travel to/from work location
    • Must be available to work 30 - 40 hours, during the specified 10-week timeframe
    • Analytical thinking - spot trends and anomalies within statistical data, to include using reporting and statistics tools
    • Mathematics skills - good understanding of basic accounting/financial practices, statistical analysis techniques, capacity planning strategies, forecasting algorithms, and other similar math skills
    • Experience with statistical and analytical tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Excel, Access, SQL)
    • Experience with reporting and publishing tools (e.g., Microsoft Power Point, Visio, SharePoint, Teams)

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
    • Computer skills - work with various software packages, from reporting tools to statistical applications. Strong job candidates will need to be able to quickly pick up new computer programs and use them efficiently
    • Report writing skills - have experience with preparing reports for multiple levels of the organization
    • Organization skills - ability to stay organized while working in dynamic environment where numerous projects occur at the same time is a must
    • Team collaboration - strong communication and interpersonal skills are needed to work as part of a team, coordinating closely with other departments within a company
