    THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

    As a Data Scientist in our North America Operations organization, the Intern will work to develop and program methods, automated processes, and systems to cleanse, integrate and analyze structured and unstructured, diverse “big data” sources to generate actionable insights and solutions using machine learning and advanced analytics. Tasks during the 10 weeks will include researching and crunching data to assist with system automation. The ideal intern will have technical skills with common languages in the industry.  You will need a high level of engagement and ability to take initiative, ask questions and work in a team environment.

    -    Interprets and communicates insights and findings from analyses and experiments to other analysts, data scientists, team members and business partners.  -    Design working models and implement them on Big Data systems using Map Reduce or Spark frameworks. -    Assist with operationalizing the solutions and changing business processes to maximize the value of those solutions.  -    Identify patterns and leverage information discovered to create a more automated environment 

    WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN A CANDIDATE

    • EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

     

    -    Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, rising senior or master’s level education status at the start of the internship, graduating August 2022 – May 2023. -    Major/Degree: In pursuit of degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Machine learning, Advanced Analytics, or similar technical degree field.

    -    PROFICIENCY AND UNDERSTANDING OF: -    Able to apply techniques such as classification, clustering, regression, deep learning, association, anomaly detection, time series forecasting, Hidden Markov models and Bayesian inference to solve pragmatic business problems -    Basic Experience with big data systems and basic programming languages -    Familiar with Hadoop, Pig, Hive, Scope, Cosmos, or similar technologies. -    Experience with statistical programming environments like Python, R, SPSS or IBM Watson Studio  -    Fluent in one or more object oriented-languages like C#, C++, Scala, Java, and scripting languages like Python or Ruby   -    Experience with PowerBI and sparking graphs

    -    WORK SETTING -    Ideally the position will be in one of the following offices: Broomfield -CO, Littleton-CO,  or may consider remote/ work from home. -    Intern must be able to work 30-40 hours per week during the 10-week program (June – August) -    Intern must have reliable transportation to/from work location (Lumen does not provide transportation to/from Lumen office locations) -    US work authorization
