The Database Administrator (DBA) Intern creates, maintains, designs, monitors and resolves problems within Acxiom or client databases. As a DBA Intern, you will use specific relational database management systems, develop and implement database recovery mechanisms and procedures, and coordinate security measures to safeguard database integrity.

INTERNSHIP DETAILS:

• The internship will begin on May 22, 2023

• Our intention is to have interns work on-site in Conway, Arkansas if possible. However, your internship may be a hybrid method or fully remote. We plan to transition interns to on-site work when teams transition back into the office, but we currently do not have a timeline for this transition

• 20-25 hour/week work dedication during the semester, up to 40/week during summer and breaks

• Anticipated graduation date between August 2023 - December 2023

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Install and configure database software and related products; perform database backup and recovery

• Monitor database: perform health checks and security checks and audits, including compliance-related reporting & controls

• Work with DBMS vendor support (Oracle support, Microsoft support, Percona etc.)

• Database creation and configuration with supervision

• Maintenance (proactive, reactive and automated), both scheduled and unscheduled

• Perform database refreshes, log-file review, simple trouble-shooting and repairs, and ensure the availability of the database

• Report on state of databases

• DBMS and related tools license management

• Learn database-related tools (monitoring systems, tool repositories, etc.), automation/scripting using python , and learn/work on VMware, Big data technologies, snowflake and AWS

• Apply detailed triage processes and documentation

• Manage database users and security/access control with supervision

• Incident, change and problem management

• Potential on-call rotation

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field

• Ability to manage time, responsibilities, and priorities effectively with emphasis on contribution

• Demonstrable analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills

• Relational Database Fundamentals

• SQL
