THE ROLE

LUMEN’S INTERNSHIP PROGRAM IS A PATH FOR CAREER READINESS IN THE 4TH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION.

Be a part of an internship program, driving human progress through technology.  During a 10- week period (June 3, 2022 -  August 12, 2022) ,our summer interns innovate and make an impact by transforming industries across the globe and changing the world one connection at a time.  Our interns are presented with real business challenges and provide solutions that make a difference across all areas of the company, all while learning the skills needed to successfully navigate the modern workplace.

In this role, we aim to familiarize our interns with a wide range of Lumen products and various organizations. As a junior design intern in our marketing and project management organization, you will work with teams of designers, researchers, engineers, and product managers to develop and bring creative ideas to life while enhancing and promoting messages that highlight Lumen's uniqueness.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Lumen Marcom department is responsible for the company's advertising and marketing. The role of the design team is to develop and maintain a consistent and compelling look and feel for all materials, including advertising, the lumen.com website, and other digital and print assets. We partner with the Copy, Web (UI / UX) and Video teams as a single creative group to showcase the company as a leader in our field, a company with vision and tools that enable users to do amazing things.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Participate in various design projects from concept to completion
• Produce moodboards, mockups, and engaging, innovative and effective design solutions
• Listen to feedback from managers, stakeholders, and peers to hone skills and improve design
• Work on a variety of projects hands-on such as ad and infographic design, animation, web page layout and more
• Understand project requirements and goals, and adhere to company brand style guidelines
• Use various techniques to create drafts, mockups, and prototypes
• Produce final design solutions (like logos, banners, interfaces)
• Pitch creative ideas
• Collaborate with other designers and members of other teams
• Take on special design tasks (e.g. color correction)

WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN A CANDIDATE

•  Pursing a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Advertising, Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Digital Design & Multimedia Design, or similar
•  Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college; junior or senior status at the start of the internship (graduating after August 2022)
•  Minimum Cumulative GPA: 3.0 or higher preferred
•  Must be available to work 30 – 40 hours, during the specified 10-week timeframe
•  Strong online design portfolio (link required)
•  Ability to drive for results through leadership and flexible approaches
•  Excellent verbal and written communications skills
•  Detail oriented and well organized
•  Ability to manage projects and meet deadlines
•  Understanding of basics of typography, layout, color theory and composition
•  Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop; familiarity with Adobe XD and Microsoft PowerPoint
•  Familiarity with digital and print projects
•  Can craft and execute a vision with creativity and style individually, and as part of a team
•  Curious, quick learner, great communicator, reliable and ready to work hard
•  Interest in technology
•  Experience in HTML/CSS, illustration and/or animation preferred
