THE ROLE

LUMEN’S INTERNSHIP PROGRAM IS A PATH FOR CAREER READINESS IN THE 4TH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION.

Be a part of an internship program, driving human progress through technology.  During a 10- week period our summer interns innovate and make an impact by transforming industries across the globe and changing the world one connection at a time.  Our interns are presented with real business challenges and provide solutions that make a difference across all areas of the company, all while learning the skills needed to successfully navigate the modern workplace.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Join Lumen’s eCommerce Team as we improve our customer experience, optimize our websites to increase rankings on all major search networks, and drive higher online sales for our Telecom business.

Utilize your knowledge of digital marketing, consumer behavior, and search engine optimization to attract prospective customers to our websites.

Collaborate with other eCommerce team members, product marketing, and brand marketing to understand our web experiences, product attributes, and target customers, to design and implement technical and content changes to improve our organic presence.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Learn about and execute SEO tasks such as, but not limited to:
  • Keyword research, including discovery and expansion of keyword opportunities
  • Optimizing copy and landing pages for search engine optimization
  • Research and analyze competitor keyword rankings
  • Utilize on-page and off-page SEO tactics
  • Recommend technical website changes to improve SEO
• Learn about current, past and projected trends in the SEO industry.
• Identify new opportunities to increase website visibility and search engine ranking.
• Collaborate with the SEO Manager, other internal team members and vendor/agency team members to complete tasks effectively, professionally and within budget
• Monitor organic search performance of Lumen’s CenturyLink and Quantum Fiber properties and top competitor sites.
• Create reports to demonstrate organic search performance, and the impact of SEO activities

WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN A CANDIDATE

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• General knowledge of SEO, with a keen interest in learning more!
• Copywriting skills and experience.
• Demonstrated experience ranking content (can be a personal project, blog post, social media post, YouTube video, etc.).
• Analytical skills and ability to identify patterns and trends within large datasets to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment where everyone works together to push for success.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently but also as part of a team.
• Exceptional time management and task prioritization skills, with the ability to pivot when necessary.
• Understanding of or familiar with search engine optimization tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google My Business and Google Tag Manager is preferred.
• Experience utilizing SEO tools such as SEMrush is preferred.
• Familiarity with various content management systems such as WordPress, etc. is preferred.
• General knowledge of HTML is a plus.

EDUCATION:

• Currently enrolled in a degree-granting program and returning to school after the internship.
• Studies in marketing, communications, information technology, or related discipline.
