THE ROLE
LUMEN’S INTERNSHIP PROGRAM IS A PATH FOR CAREER READINESS IN THE 4TH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION.

During a 10- week period our summer interns innovate and make an impact by transforming industries across the globe and changing the world one connection at a time. THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
The intern will collaborate with a team of data engineers and developers and will be responsible for designing and developing Software solutions using the listed skill sets. The intern will also work closely with product owners, engineering managers and other stake holders to understand the requirements and design to efficiently implement and deliver the solution. The intern will be working in an agile environment and collaborate with onshore and offshore resources.
The Primary Responsibilities:
The candidate will assist in grooming the solution along with the engineering manager and team members based on the requirements
During the sprints, the candidate will develop the code as per the requirements, perform local testing and review the code with team members
The candidate will participate in all the scrum ceremonies and ensure the agile process is practiced to lead to a successful outcome
The Candidate will collaborate and help other team members resolve their issues/impediments
The candidate will enhance the application by identifying opportunities for improvement, making recommendations, and designing and implementing fixes
The Candidate will follow robust DevOps practices, and use CI/CD practices deploying the application
The Candidate will lead the production deployment and conduct post deployment validation
WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN A CANDIDATE
Education Requirements
Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, rising senior bachelor’s level education status or Master’s at the start of the internship, graduating August 2023 – June 2024.
Major/Degree: In pursuit of degree in Computer Science or similar technical degree field.
Required Qualifications / Skills
Demonstrated knowledge of application development using Java 8 and Spring Boot framework
Experience in developing REST APIs using microservice architecture
Experience in developing apps that operate using Confluent Kafka
Experience in using RDBMS like Oracle, MySQL, SQL, NOSQL
Experience in implementing CI/CD, preferably using GitHub/Jenkins
Experience in deploying apps to Kubernetes/Docker
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
Desired Qualifications / Skills
Experience In developing applications using graph databases like DataStax Enterprise Graph
Knowledge of GraphQL
Development experience in Java
Experience with Agile/SCRUM Methodologies and development practices
Cloud design experience in Azure/GCP
Demonstrated experience in system ownership
Demonstrated Experience in architecting/leading system design for distributed systems, defending design choices and engaging in trade-off conversations
Ability to influence peers/leaders and teams
The candidate should also have
Proficient communication skills
Excellent customer service skills to ensure client satisfaction
Effective collaboration skills with stakeholders and team members
Ability to train and coach / mentor junior team members.
Able to work independently with minimal guidance
Work Setting
This will be a remote – work from home position.
Intern must be able to work 30-40 hours be week during the 10-week program (June – August)
