    LUMEN’S US INTERNSHIP PROGRAM IS A PATH FOR CAREER READINESS IN THE 4TH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION.

    THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

    As a Software Support Engineer in our Strategic Planning and Transformation organization, the Intern will work collaboratively within our IT Operations teams.  This position will focus on analyzing Lumen’s monitoring of production applications for availability, performance, workload, and infrastructure resilience through our incident ticket history.  The intern should have basic analytical and business analysis skills, with the ability to be resourceful, curious, and productive in a fast-paced environment.   

    • Focus on analysis of application incident ticket history
    • Identify trends across applications to determine potential stability initiatives
    • Improve productivity of ticket flow
    • Simplify and combine assignment groups
    • Audit ticket routing and identify steps needed to minimize reassignments
    • Audit account provisioning/deprovisioning for all supported applications, identify appropriate owners and correct, as needed
    • Work with general operating systems such as Linux, Unix, and Windows.

     

    WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN A CANDIDATE

    Education Requirements

    • Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, rising senior or master’s level education status at the start of the internship, graduating August 2022 – May 2023.
    • Major/Degree: In pursuit of degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar technical degree field.

     

    Proficiency and understanding of;

    • Knowledge of general operating systems such as Linux, Unix, and Windows.
    • Technical understanding of middleware components and the infrastructure in the environment.
    • Familiar with technology applications such as: Kubernetes, Docker, Tomcat and similar
    • Knowledge of current Lumen IT tools such as ServiceNow, Microsoft Teams, Excel, SharePoint, etc. 
    • Strong troubleshooting skills to independently perform analysis and support of complex midrange application environments.
    • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects and efforts at the same time.

    Work Setting

    • Ideally the position will be in one of the following offices: Broomfield -CO or may consider remote/ work from home.
    • Intern must be able to work 30-40 hours be week during the 10-week program (June – August)
    • Intern must have reliable transportation to/from work location (Lumen does not provide transportation to/from Lumen office locations)
    • US work authorization required
