THE ROLE

LUMEN’S INTERNSHIP PROGRAM IS A PATH FOR CAREER READINESS IN THE 4TH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION.

Be a part of an internship program, driving human progress through technology.  During a 10- week period our summer interns innovate and make an impact by transforming industries across the globe and changing the world one connection at a time.  Our interns are presented with real business challenges and provide solutions that make a difference across all areas of the company, all while learning the skills needed to successfully navigate the modern workplace.

THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Solution Architecture Intern, you will work with Solution Architecture, Solution Support and Technical Architecture Groups.  You will learn different aspects of our business and organizations. 

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Work with Solution Support in quoting ITS and Big Machines.

• Complete drawings and help with statement of work intake forms.

• Buildout of the TAG Framework to include process documentation, reference architecture design templates (and potential builds) accompanied by oversight of the new work management tool monday.com.

• Attend internal meetings with above listed teams to get exposure to all aspects of Lumen

• Attend Customer meetings in person (in their designated market) and over UCC platform to get firsthand experience.   

• Support and assist field Sales Engineering teams to identify and develop additional revenue opportunities. 

• Provide general discovery, support, and education to customers and internal Lumen personnel on questions or issues arising from service.

• Research, define, and document service change requests where needed in support of service modification.

• Work with customer and company personnel to help identify and define technical. problems, determine and design the solution and assist customer in implementing the fix.

• Uncover and define customer solution and business development strategies, including the recommendation and communication of technology roadmaps to business customers

WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN A CANDIDATE

Education Requirements

• Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, rising senior or master’s level education status at the start of the internship, graduating August 2023 – May 2024.

• Major/Degree: In pursuit of degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar technical degree field.

Proficiency and understanding of:

• Basic understanding of communications, cloud, application, and information technologies and design.

• Strong communication skills with ability to convey business and technology concepts to a wide range of audiences and skillsets

• Comfortable speaking or presenting in an engaging manner to groups of professionals.

• Experience with VMWare or Visio would be nice to have.

Work Setting

• This position will be hybrid in one of the following offices: Phoenix, AZ; Irvine, CA; Denver, CO; Seattle, WA; or Salt Lake City, UT

• Intern must be able to work 30-40 hours be week during the 10-week program (June – August)

• Intern must have reliable transportation to/from work location (Lumen does not provide transportation to/from Lumen office locations)
