    Systems Engineers ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of information systems that support core organizational functions and customers. This internship will focus on roadmap/foundation initiatives helping to advance the introduction of technologies like: Airflow, Spark, Kubernetes & Ansible.

    At the direction of the owner architect, the Systems Engineer Intern will help with deploying new technologies within the Tech Lab (on-prem or in cloud), as well as functional and performance tests needed to vet out new technology.

    Internship details:

    • The internship will begin January 5, 2022

    • Our intention is to have interns work on-site in Conway, Arkansas if possible. However, your internship may begin virtually and could continue virtually for its entirety. We plan to transition interns to on-site work when teams transition back into the office, but we currently do not have a timeline for this transition

    • 20-25 hours/week work dedication during the semester and up to 40/week during breaks and summer

    • Anticipated graduation date between May 2022 - May 2023

    • Applicants for this internship position with Acxiom in the U.S. must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States and with Acxiom (i.e., H1-B visa, F-1 visa (CPT/OPT), TN visa or any other non-immigrant status)

    What You Will Do:

    • Deploy new candidate software technologies within our on-prem or cloud Tech Lab

    • Assist in the provisioning of compute, storage and network resources need to support new technology

    • Test the function and performance of new technology

    • Identify potential performance-related issues, work with vendor and owner architect, and implements solutions

    • Research and summarize industry best practices for deploying and managing the candidate technology that we would review and potentially adopt as part of overlay production-ready strategy

    • Do vital prep work needed to get new technology ready to leave the lab (i.e., automated deployment configs, runbooks, other handoff documentation, etc.)

    • Write scripts or playbooks needed to automate deployment/configuration across multiple environment

    • Document deployment processes and options needed by system admins and or server managers who will be deploying the technology outside the lab

    • Design and document disaster recovery operation for the technology

    • Assist in designing and implementing automation for provisioning, management, and monitoring of new technology

    • Authentication and authorization controls for the new technology

    • Design and implement security hardening

    What You Need:

    • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Networking, Information Systems, or related field
    • Experience with PowerShell, Bash, or Korn shell scripting
    • Experience with Linux/Unix operating system environment
    • Experience with GIT version control repository and practices

    What will set you apart:

    • Experience installing and evaluating open-source or 3rd party software for functionality and usability
    • Automation tools (Jenkins, Ansible, Helm, Chef, Terraform)
    • VMWare, Docker, Kubernetes
    • Cloud Computing environments (e.g., AWS or GCP)
    • Snowflake or Spark
    • Experience with traditional and non-traditional backup methodologies
