The Global Logical Provisioning and Activations Team for the Public Sector is seeking motivated and driven engineers to support implementation of Verizon’s Intelligent Edge Network. You will provide logical provisioning and activation support for Verizon’s Global Transport (Layers 1, 2, and 3) networks.
Responsible for the logical configuration of provider edge network equipment
Skill sets typically include Cisco, and Juniper platforms
Support customer activations and responsible for configuration adjustments as needed
Ensure configurations meet customer expectations as well as industry and product standards
Responsible for pre-verification testing of circuits before a scheduled activation in order to help ensure success and a positive customer experience
Work with external and internal organizations to coordinate and troubleshoot
Provide network technical assistance to external teams by communicating technical details during turnup and activation
Responsible for accurate back office system data record management
Candidates must demonstrate a command of common WAN architecture and troubleshooting techniques. The candidate should also possess an understanding and appreciation of common routing protocols and their role in successful network implementations.
Candidates should be comfortable in a customer facing role. They should have strong interpersonal and organizational skill sets; be comfortable in a dynamic, fast paced environment; feel comfortable leading and troubleshooting during an activation call. Flexibility is needed for working off hours when required; and an understanding that accountability feeds directly into customer satisfaction.
You'll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience with four or more years of industry specific technical experience
Ability to obtain a Government security clearance of Public Trust
Knowledge of IP telecommunication equipment and technologies (Cisco, Juniper)
Strong understanding of IP addressing/Subnetting/CIDR
Ability to communicate highly technical, multi-faceted (e.g., network, security) solutions to customers and Verizon peers in a simple, understandable manner
Transport / Access : TDM, Ethernet, ELine/ELan
Equipment : Cisco, Juniper, BEAS, Overture, ANDA
Protocols : TCP/IP, Private IP, Ethernet
Knowledge of routing protocols ( BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, Static Routing)
Configuration of : QoS, CoS, Load Sharing, Policy Based Routing, VLANs, Multi-casting, Sight of Origin
Willingness to work after hours, weekends or holidays as necessary
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
A degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science or Electronics
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with IPv6
Transport / Access : Strong ability to troubleshoot layers 1, 2, and 3
Applications / Systems : Competency in VDDS, IPSM, BGW, SNM, ETMS. Working knowledge of provisioning Controller (PC), TCOMS
Highly organized with an ability to manage competing priorities
Ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic environment while multitasking
