This opportunity is for Military personnel who are current participants of the Department of Defense SkillBridge Program or are participants of the Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program Cohort 2-2024.
This position is a DNS Administrator position within the Global Network and Unified Communication organization. The position will have a direct impact on the entire Verizon GTS technical footprint, which encompasses over 100k Employees, 140K servers, 1,300 physical locations and 3 tier 1 Data Centers. The Enterprise Internal and External DNS infrastructure is deployed across 436 devices consisting of VMs, physical servers and vendor appliances. The DHCP infrastructure is a nationwide regional deployment of over 20 servers and appliances providing DHCP services for all internal laptops, desktops and any device requiring dynamically assigned IP addresses.
JOB DUTIES:
Support internal and external large enterprise DNS environments
Support internal DHCP environments providing IP addressing to internal systems
Complete DNS and DHCP changes during after hour change controls
Process DNS/DHCP requests that arrive in the DNS Portal work queue
Utilize IPAM system to process DNS requests that need manual support
Field DNS/DHCP questions that come into the work system and require prompt responses
Escalate complex requests to senior DNS/DHCP Administrator
Day-to-day Linux system support for DNS VM, servers, and appliances
Create DNS and other IP services automation and proactive monitoring
Create ad hoc reporting for any/all services supported
Work with network support groups, help desk, command center and end clients to troubleshoot issues
Participate in group calls, manage project calls
You'll need to have:
**Gov't Clearance Capable - Within the DNS work there will be the possibility to have to do work on IP addresses for GOV'T apps as well as other Gov't facing DNS resolutions.
DNS ADMIN SKILLS:
3+ years of DNS Administration experience
2+ years of IPAM (IP Address Management)
1+ years of DHCP administration experience
2+ year experience with 9.x DNS version BIND
2+ years of Linux systems administration
2+ years of experience with command line scripting in Linux
DHCP SKILLS:
General working knowledge of DHCP and basic configuration
2+ years in deployment and support of an enterprise DHCP environment
Even better if you have:
2+ year Python scripting experience
1+ years GSLB (Global Services Load Balancing) experience
1+ years of previous experience with network routers and switches
1+ year MYSQL DB Experience
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
Bachelor Degree in Information Technology or comparable work experience
Desired DNS Administrator Certification
