    What you’ll be doing…

    This Co-Op position, which is part of the Verizon Campus Program, will give you a chance to channel your drive and enthusiasm as part of a 6-month rotation from June 24, 2024 to December 14, 2024 working a full-time schedule. You’ll be front and center, hands-on, and contributing your creative energy to high-impact projects from the moment you arrive.

    As a Co-Op with the Architecture team, some of the projects you may work on could enhance your skills in one or more of the following areas:

    • Creating architecture blueprints leveraging technologies and architecture patterns like MicroServices architecture, event-driven architecture (EDA), containers, serverless computing, and data analytics.

    • Assisting multiple teams in aligning their architectures and technology toolsets to ensure the reuse of skills and technologies across the enterprise.

    • Supporting technology selections by validating that selected technologies address architecture needs.

    • Designing and developing a reference implementation (working code) that aligns with the selected architecture.

    • Driving reference implementations (arch projects) independently (whether defining new /evolving architectures or supporting vendor product evaluations).

    • Assisting development teams with defining and implementing a transitional architecture.

    • Building, Managing, and evolving the Apigee API Management Platform to maintain operational SLAs and meet the needs of the enterprise and developer community.

    • Leading multiple cross-functional teams in developing API applications across a variety of channels.

    • Partnering with stakeholders across the business to help define platform direction, provide thought leadership on maturing API adoption, and create best-of-breed customer experiences.

    • Rationalizing enterprise API management platforms.

    • Staying abreast with industry evolution in the architecture space.

    • Conducting necessary POCs to validate new architecture patterns.

    • Knowledge of REST APIs, Node.js, Java, JavaScript, front-end JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Node.js, Bootstrap, Angular, React), database, caching, and Cloud technologies.

    • Architecting and designing solutions for deployment on API management platforms (e.g., Apigee).

    • Developing software using containerization platforms, such as Docker, Kubernetes, and PCF.

    • Developing software on cloud computing platforms like AWS, GCP, and Azure.

    • Application of Domain Driven Design, API First Approaches, AI/ML, Data Governance, Analytics, Cloud, and SAAS/PAAS platforms.

    • Working in phases of the Software Development Lifecycle, including system analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.

    • Working with both relational and no-SQL databases such as Oracle, UDB, Cassandra, MongoDB, and Amazon Aurora and app servers such as Nginx, Apache, Tomcat, JBoss, Websphere, and WebLogic.

    • Creating clear and detailed technical diagrams and documentation.

    • Learning problem-solving skills to develop quick yet sound solutions to resolve complex issues.

    You must be currently enrolled in a qualifying bachelor’s degree program at Northeastern University and be in good academic standing to be considered.

    This Co-Op position will be based out of Boston, MA, and follow a hybrid work schedule as set by the manager, including work from home and intentional in-person days. If relocation is required, relocation assistance may be available.

    • Ability to participate in our 6-month co-op that takes place from June 24, 2024 to December 14, 2024 working a full-time schedule.

    • Current enrollment in a Northeastern University Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related major with an expected completion date between December 2024 and June 2025.

    • Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship.

    • Willingness to travel and work in an assigned Verizon office.

    Even better if you have one or more of the following:

    • Previous Internship or Co-Op experience.

    • Completed coursework in calculus, physics, and/or probability/statistics.

    • Experience with data analytics, data science, and computer programming for analysis and automation.

    • Demonstrated independent thinking, relationship management, and attention to detail.

    • Demonstrated strong analytical, communication, leadership, and presentation skills.

    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-moving, team environment.
