What You’ll Do: The Principal Systems Engineer will use their NOC software expertise to correctly design, specify, and implement OneWeb NOC software systems to ensure accurate and efficient interworking end-to-end from a NOC and OneWeb system perspective. • Create use cases and write requirements for the NOC software systems • Work with NOC systems vendors to ensure NOC software systems are correctly designed to work end-to-end, meeting the requirements as specified • Critique vendor software specifications, detailed design, and test documentation • Ensure that the NOC software is developed according to best practices/methodologies and meets OneWeb system and operational requirements and that it is readily upgradeable to support future evolving requirements • Take ownership of the interface documents to the NOC software, managing the review and release process (for enhancements) with all the OW sub system stake holders • Ensure the NOC software meets all the external interface requirement specification, and debug if necessary • Support NOC systems acceptance events (Factory Acceptance Testing, Site Acceptance Testing) • Support verification and validation testing in OneWeb lab and operational systems • Support implementation and operations activities to ensure software systems upgrades and enhancements are properly developed and operationally ready
What It Takes: • Bachelor’s Degree • 10+ years’ related experience • Deep experience and understanding in: o Systems engineering principles – writing use cases, requirements, and reviewing verification matrices o Design, implementation, and verification of software used in NOC systems o NOC architectures & protocols o Developing and thoroughly documenting technical requirements in system / protocol specifications and interface control documents o Authoring technical documents, specifications, ICDs and test plans for NOC systems • Excellent communications skills: ability to convey ideas and technical information clearly and concisely to engineers and senior staff members • Ability to work in a team of engineers in system design, analysis, and specification • Hands-on experience with software integration, test and verification in lab and operational systems
What We’d Love: • Experience with Satellite Communications Systems Engineering • Experience with 3GPP/LTE management systems infrastructure • Self-starter, proactively takes the lead/initiative to ensure system design issues are resolved effectively and efficiently
Where You’ll Be: Tysons Corner, VA or London, UK. Travel up to 20% of the time.
