What you’ll be doing...

As the technical lead on the Video Hydra Services development team, you will be responsible for architecting, designing, developing, optimizing and supporting highly scalable backend services and pipelines for Verizon's Video products such as FiOSTV, FiOSTV+, Verizon StreamTV, FiOS Mobile/Web product and FiOS TV Home on Set-Top Boxes, Mobile, Web and CE client platforms. As part of this role, you will be working with internal and external stakeholders on the backend development teams, client development teams, QA, product, marketing, network, dev-ops, operations and customer support teams as well as other development organizations in Verizon. You will work with these teams on different tasks such as requirements discussions, developing and delivering efficient and scalable solutions, and debugging and fixing customer issues.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Working on video technologies and areas such as IPTV, Linear and On-demand streaming and video encoding/decoding technologies, Digital Rights Management, OAuth/SSO/Biometrics, Web Authentication/Authorization technologies, Edge services and security technologies.

• Working on server technology stacks such as .NET/C#, Scala, NodeJS/Angular, AWS, SQL and NoSQL databases.

• Providing technical leadership supporting new ideation and innovation efforts,

• Creating proof-of-concept implementations.

• Leading and mentoring a team of contractors.

What we’re looking for...​

You’ll need to have:

• Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

• Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time. ​

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• Experience designing, developing and troubleshooting high performance and highly scalable web services.

• Experience in a technical leadership role, architecting and delivering highly scalable and customer facing web services

• Hands-on experience developing large-scale backend systems development using .NET/C#, Scala, SQL and NoSQL databases.

• Experience with AWS Cloud Architecture, Microservices, S/W development tools such as GIT, Splunk, Jenkins, Atlassian tools

• Domain knowledge of video streaming services/products and video delivery systems.

• Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering or software engineering.

• Experience with leading a web service development team for video delivery

• Experience with IPTV, DRM, Video streaming protocols - MPEGDASH/HLS, OAuth standards

• Participation in external technology forums, technical publications

• Experience in architecting and developing highly performant and scalable backend services and pipelines.

• Interest in exploring new technologies, coming up with new ideas and innovations.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly technical communication.
