The Innovation team works in the office of the CTO, as part of the global IS (Information Systems) organization. We're a lean group that helps identify and foster new ideas to improve our operational efficiency and profitability through the application of technology or process change. In short, we help cultivate and enable an innovation culture within a large company. This involves meeting lots of people and doing a lot of communicating, organizing, and making introductions, as well as analyzing data then designing and maintaining processes and mechanisms that help us cultivate desirable behaviors and workflows.

YOUR ROLE:

The Innovation team is small and agile. We'll develop duties that work to your strengths and interests, some examples include: *

• Collaborating on Innovation team strategy and designing and updating our support programs.
• Hosting Ideation campaigns in SPIGIT and organizing internal hackathons and competitions.
• Meeting with stakeholders throughout our enterprise and talking with them about their goals and blockers.
• Planning and managing 6-8 week Proof of Concept projects with internal stakeholders and external partners, Documenting the outcome, and then communicating the outcomes in Newsletters & reports.
• Gamifying and administrating programs to encourage and document innovation behaviors.
• Azure administration & database design
• Small Web development or Web App/API projects
• Organizing and hosting 'tech talks' where we find problem solvers from around our business and get them to showcase solutions to other engineering teams and talk about their approach and the technologies they applied.
• Maintaining, updating, and extending or improving our resource web site, a SharePoint-based innovation resource center for Ingram Micro employees.
• Researching and validating potential new projects, establishing business impact statements, user stories, and ROI estimates.
• Working with student teams to deliver business case studies and computer science capstone projects.

We're seeking an excellent communicator, who's good with technology, from Office to SQL to Adobe Creative suite. We want you to be able to go deep with our engineers on their dreams of a better platform, understand where the hard part will be, and be able to communicate to executives why we should try, and act as a role-model for innovation leadership. We think these abilities will be evidenced by a 4-year college degree, and likely a master's in Business or Innovation, and some experience in a technical field like product design, engineering, coding, or architecture. Backgrounds in Advertising, Information Science, software development & startups could be good to tell us about too. We work in innovation and the job, by its nature, is not always clearly defined. We need a self-motivated team player who's comfortable with ambiguity and sometimes vague instructions.
