    What you’ll be doing...

    Join Verizon as we continue to expand our industry-leading network to improve the ways people, businesses, and things connect. As a Senior Engineer, you will provide technical expertise on a critical role involving network transformation, network outages, service issues, network optimization, and maintenance as a part of the Michigan-Indiana-Kentucky Network Operations Team. This Sr Field Engineer would be responsible for a cluster of cell sites. You will need to be there to work network outages or service issues, you’ll be there to prioritize the situation, solve the network problems. You will work with a team of field engineers that are responsible for the health of the RAN network. Your role will be providing Tier 1 support and network surveillance to keep things running efficiently and change the way that our customers live, work, and play.

    • Monitoring the network systems and applications to ensure overall system availability and performance.

    • Complying with company and industry-wide standard directives to maintain network performance and enhance efficiency.

    • Providing expert-level optimization, troubleshooting, and maintenance support of network equipment, finding ways to make it even better.

    • Partnering with all key stakeholders to ensure new features and\or fixes are swiftly rolled out with no negative impact to customers or system performance.

    • Leveraging automation to eliminate manual processes and providing near real-time visibility into system health and performance.

    • Generating, managing and updating problem-tracking tickets, flash notifications and critical issues.

    • Knowledge of optical DWDM system and optical distribution network (GPON).

    • Working with external and internal Verizon organizations to coordinate and troubleshoot network events.

    Where you’ll be working:

    In this worksite-based role, you will provide cell site support across Louisville, KY and the surrounding area.

    What we’re looking for…

    You’re tech savvy and well-versed in all things telecommunications. Working independently suits you well. You’re also thorough, vigilant, and on top of the details - someone people count on to solve problems and to make sure they don’t happen in the first place. You are energized by the challenge of working through difficult situations and finding positive outcomes.

    You’ll need to have:

    • Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.

    • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

    • Willingness to work different shifts.

    • Willingness to participate in 24x7 escalation and support duties including holidays and weekends.

    • Has experience deploying and maintaining Ericsson 4G and 5G equipment

    Even better if you have one or more of the following:

    • A technical degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Engineering, Business or a related discipline.

    • Five or more years or more of experience in telecommunications.

    • Experience with automation tools.

    • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve IP network troubles in the physical, data link, and network layers.

    • Ability to maintain configuration of devices in a network management monitoring system.

    • Expert-level knowledge of services, network devices, knowledge base solutions, and system monitoring tools.

    • Knowledge of TCP/IP.

    • Experience with Python scripting.

    • Knowledge of telecommunications equipment and technologies like Telephony Switching, Data Communications and Network Routers.

    • Knowledge of IP telecommunication equipment and technologies (Cisco, Juniper, Adtran, Calix).

    • Knowledge of routing protocols (MPLS, LDP, BGP, IS-IS, OSPF), cloud computing and virtualization.

    • Knowledge of specialized telecommunications equipment (Ciena 6500T/S, & Cisco) and technologies.
