Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Performance Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting and improving the performance of Object Storage within the IBM Cloud. The team you will be joining is responsible for performance of Object Storage systems: performance tooling development; performance feature testing; performance monitoring and analysis; performance characterization, modeling, and estimation; and system workload testing across Public, Hybrid, and Private Cloud environments.

Responsibilities will include performance tooling development and test development, focused on performance; security; scalability; and reliability across various environments, but focused largely on Public Cloud Infrastructure. Participating in all aspects of the development process to create tools for the automated collection of data and results of both live and test systems. This will include deployment of cloud resources, collection of data, data analysis, and reporting with support from senior performance architects and engineers.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience with object-oriented programming (Java, Python, or equivalent)

• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

• Experience with using and developing REST APIs

• Experience with Linux or other POSIX OS

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Exposure to Javascript, modern web app development

• Exposure to data visualization/UI development

• Exposure to software development tools like GitHub, JIRA, and Jenkins

• Exposure to cloud computing/storage technologies

• Exposure to Infrastructure as code tools such as Tarraform
