    Leidos is seeking a Software Engineer Intern in Omaha, NE.

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    Come put your software engineering skills into action! Leidos has immediate internship opportunities for Software Engineers to work in Omaha, NE. In this role, you will join a dynamic team that is singularly focused on providing world-class solutions to our customers in a collaborative and inclusive environment that leverages Scrum-based software development methodologies and tools. For consideration, you must be a US citizen and be able to obtain a DoD security clearance.

    As a key part of the team, you will support the air-vehicle planning system (APS) for United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM). APS provides USSTRATCOM with the national’s only force-level aircraft and cruise-missile planning capabilities through advanced textual and geospatial visualizations.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug mission critical software source code using modern software development languages and tools, such as java.

    • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, working within broadly defined parameters.

    • Use Jira, Confluence, Nexus, Stash-Git/Subversion development operations, collaboration and source control tools.

    • Support creation and updating of all relevant documentation and specifications for design, development and testing.

    • Identify potential roadblocks and develop around them.

    • Plan and estimate development tasks and work to improve performance metrics.

    • Develop maintainable code that matches specification.

    • Perform unit testing of code, including manipulation of data for analysis of system requirements.

    • Own delivery of small parts of a system or application.

    • Work closely with other engineers to develop the best technical design and approach for new product development.

    • Build software solutions where the solution is not always well defined but always considers the customer first.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Actviely pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and less than 2 years of relevant experience.

    • Experience with Java and object-oriented programming (applicants will be tested).

    • Solid understanding of software development process fundamentals.

    • Strong, self-motivated desire to learn new programming languages, tools, frameworks, and techniques.

    • Familiarity with basic web technologies including HTML, CSS, XML, SOAP, WSDL, REST, JSON, and JavaScript.

    • Must have the ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret security clearance.

    • US Citizenship is required.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minumum 3.0 GPA.

    • Familiarity with web application technologies, such as Apache Tomcat, JBoss, etc.

    • Knowledge of a version control system (e.g., Git).

    • Knowledge of Agile Development methodologies.

    • Familiarity with multiple operating systems (Mac OSX, Windows, LINUX, etc.).

    • Familiarity with at least one Relational Database Management System (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.).

    • Proficiency with MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Visio, & PowerPoint).

    • Active DoD security clearance.

    PAY RANGE:

    • $44,200.00 - $68,000.00 - $91,800.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
