Advanced Systems Design is seeking a Systems Administrator, Intermediate for our client located in Tallahassee, FL.
This position is onsite in Tallahassee, FL, and requires in-person availability starting day 1.

Job Overview:
The Systems Administrator shall serve as the Department's Subject Matter Expert. The Systems Administrator is responsible for deploying, configuring, and maintaining servers, operating systems, and related infrastructure to support remote monitoring and management capabilities across all Department facilities. This role ensures the successful implementation of technology upgrades, system stability, and security compliance while enabling operational continuity in scenarios where physical site access is limited. The duties and responsibilities of this position are as follows:
- Provision, configure, and manage the lifecycle of server infrastructure, operating systems, and remote administration platforms, including upgrades and standardization;
- Coordinate enterprise deployments of hardware and software across multiple sites, ensuring consistent builds and smooth transitions;
- Monitor and optimize system health through proactive alerting, incident triage, root cause analysis, and performance tuning to maintain availability and meet Service Level Agreement (SLA) targets;
- Implement security controls by enforcing patch and vulnerability remediation, establishing hardening baselines, and managing role-based access (RBAC/least privilege);
- Collaborate with network and systems architecture teams to validate interoperability, capacity planning, and scalability across integrated environments;
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, including runbooks, configuration standards, change records, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support operational continuity and audit readiness;
- Provide rollout support and knowledge transfer, including go-live assistance, post-deployment stabilization, and enablement for end-users and IT staff on new platforms and tools;
- Implement and maintain remote monitoring and management tools for statewide systems;
- Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams during outages or situations with limited site access; and
- Maintain availability for critical incidents or maintenance windows, as needed.
Required Qualifications:
The Department requires the following experience, skills, and knowledge for this position:
- A minimum of five (5) years in systems administration, including deployment, maintenance, and remote monitoring of enterprise systems;
- Efficient in remote management tools and virtualization platforms;
- Experience in network fundamentals and the importance of security hardening;
- Creating scripts for automation using PowerShell and Bash; and
- Promoting effective information security practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
The Department prefers the Candidates to have the following experience, skills, and/or knowledge for this position:
- Experience with large-scale deployments across multiple sites;
- Familiarity with disaster recovery and business continuity planning;
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively manage competing priorities in a distributed work environment;
- Strong documentation and written and verbal communication skills; and
- Experience in and collaboration with Data Center environments.
Education:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or four (4) years of equivalent work experience is required. Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis when applicable.
