GLOBAL ATLANTIC'S INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The Global Atlantic offers an immersive 10 week summer internship program that allows students to learn critical skills in a business setting. Our program runs from June 6, 2022 to August 12, 2022. POSITION OVERVIEW

The Infrastructure Operations Intern position is based in our Des Moines, IA office and will support the efforts of our Infrastructure and Operations team. For this opening, we are targeting December 2022 and May 2023 grads. The IT Infrastructure and Operations department is foundational to both IT and the enterprise as a whole, offering services such as virtual desktops and application delivery, storage, networking, virtualization, integration, automation, cloud, and service desk. We leverage industry standard technologies such as Microsoft Windows, Linux, Control-M, Citrix, VMware, and Amazon AWS. This is an excellent opportunity to get marketable hands-on experience with in-demand tooling and also to interact with seasoned infrastructure engineers and technology leaders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provisioning of virtual infrastructure, such as virtual desktops and servers in both on premise and AWS
• Application installation and configuration
• Assist in configuration of networks and wireless LANs
• Create reports and dashboards to visualize infrastructure usage and consumption trends for senior management
• Interact with service desk engineers, users, and provide support to the broader organization
• Participate in the design and delivery of a variety of technology initiatives, including both changes to private (on premise hardware/software) and build pipelines in AWS

QUALIFICATIONS

• Able to communicate effectively with peers and management in both written and verbal form
• Highly motivated and driven - strong desire and willingness to learn
• Strong customer service orientation
• Detail and results oriented, works well both independently and in a team environment
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• Experience in scripting and/or programming would be advantageous 
• Majors:  Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Management/Business Information Systems preferred

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification
• Experience in scripting and/or programming languages such as Python and Powershell would be advantageous
